Something doing at the Awesome Lofts?

I noticed over the weekend that someone has moved in a couple of contractor dumpsters in behind the Awesome Lofts and this morning they had some laborers there that appeared to be doing demo work. One of the dumpsters was already full.

Anyone knows what gives? Did someone decide to fancy up the ugliest loft building in town?

This building was recently mentioned in the Business Journal as receiving tax abatements for 22 condos.

Andrew Haden, who leads the group that bought the building at 2109 Broadway in September 2005 for $1.35 million, plans 22 loft condos. Haden said the $6 million project will be done in the summer of 2007.

Thank you KCDT - very interesting. I would have figured a building as ugly as that would be the last thing on that block to get renovated but from the sounds of the article, it will be the first.

i really hope they change the name from Awesome Lofts.

perhaps...Bitchin' Lofts.

Well hopefully the renovations make them a bit more worthy of the name. Previously they would have been more accurate to name them "Trashy Lofts" or "Shitty Lofts" than Awesome Lofts
