Nothing too surprising yet.

Why even put the res. towers on Truman Rd., I'd like to see some renderings of what we will see in 06/07 and those towers won't be there right away.

They are starting one right? I would assume the Jone Store block. It sure would be nice to see at least two go up in the first phase. Phasing scares me. 80 percent of the time a second "phase" never happens in development.

At least these look better than the boxes in the first renderings. These look extremely similar to Kirkwood.

At the KCAIA forum a couple of weeks ago, the official word was that the first phase would only have 1 or 2 residential mid-rise towers. Only about 200 unites. Most of the non-residential buildings will be 2-3 stories.

Looks like they will be the tallest ever built as residential in downtown. The tower between Main and Walnut next to the freeway will have killer views with terraces and balconies.

I prefer they wait on all this housing to make sure the market is there. No reason to saturate the market. We've got a good stock of housing going, good to have plans for more but dumping all these on the market at once would have a poor affect on everybody.

i have a question, so the residential shown in the first pic closest to 670 would those be the buildings facing a possible Truman Blvd? Or would there be another block closer to the future Truman Blvd, and if so, wouldn't that be a small ass block? I mean, how is this going to work again?

CC...I'd say that would be the buildings facing a new Truman Blvd. if it were to ever come to light. I'd say there would just be wide medians on each side of the actual road. Linear park style.

I wanted to see some more detail about the high tech aspects...like the video screens, the five, 60-foot tall light pillars, etc.

According to the presentation at the KCAIA forum, Truman Boulevard would be located on top of I-670. The current Truman Road lanes on either side of the freeway would become development sites. So the buildings would be a little further south than what is in these rendereings, if the plan actually happens.

That would be pretty cool to have 670 completely covered by development.

I noticed that the site plans all have surface lots marked by "future development" where the res towers are in that rendering.

I like the housing design in general, especially the rooftop gardens but I think each building should look entirely different from each other, as if from differen architects from different schools of thought. With all looking the same, it makes it look too 'projecty'. But one of those building would be great as long as the others were entirely different.

You can post comments for the architects about the design in this topic:
http://www.kcskyscrapers.com/kcforum/vi ... php?t=4420

As for the residential buildings, I was told that 360 Architecture won't be designing those - I think they are only doing Phase I and at least one other firm will be doing the future residential.

You mean north? The P&L district is west.

the area north of that will not be that bare...there are already more buildings than that there and there is already a plan for one of those blocks.
