They did put up a sign board talking about future murals expanding along the wall abutting the train track, I saw the new lights along the west section of trail but have not seen them on yet.

anything they can do to help bypass the train tracks safely from River Market/Columbus Park area to the Riverfront will only be beneficial. It can really help bring those areas together with better access and the opportunity for development to grow out of Riverfront and up the hill into Columbus Park and for Columbus Park to grow toward the Riverfront. Can help East Bottoms access and development as well.

This, plus other proposed improvements with the street car coming down into the Riverfront gives me hope that they can completely revamp the entire East Loop freeway area. Get rid of jenky ramps, use the weird green spaces for lane improvements, construct better sound barriers, etc.

I'd also like to see some sort of way to remove an on ramp to Southbound I29/35 in NKC around the bridge to help keep traffic flowing better. Also some sort of plan to divert truck traffic out of NKC and East bottoms where they could use it exclusively to get connected to the interstate but away from the downtown area would be great. But I don't really see anything being feasible to do that. Like a dedicated semi truck only toll road or something

There was a geotechnical drill at the site of KC Current's Phase 1 last night. Might still be there today.

Sunday KC Star feature on the riverfront. A lot of history in this article that a lot of younger and newer KC residents (like myself) are likely unaware of.

My uncle crashed a car and it ended up at the city tow lot that was there right in view coming across the old Paseo bridge.

Interesting. I think this tool helped get USDA to KC. I had assumed that it would be employed to help fill office space in the Current's village

I can see it now. The design of the Spring Hill hotel at Zona Rosa plopped down next to the Bond Bridge.

Spring Hill with required upgrades.
The parties now contemplate a SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel, just west of the casino at 1800 E. Front St., with 125 to 150 rooms and design features upgraded beyond the flag's ordinary standards, said Joe Perry, Port KC's vice president of real estate.
Cynicism isn't your stock in trade, is it?

Makes me wonder why Springhill if the hotel physical product will be aligned with a better brand? Unless the upgrades are mostly exterior or urban form focused. Also wonder if they will eventually do a second hotel.

Springhill has some fine urban products. Not saying this will be that but they aren't all just pad site 100 room limited service hotel buildings.

I’d be pleasantly surprised if they ran with a better design than I have in mind. The only Spring Hills I’ve seen are the highway adjacent hotels. I’d like to see them do something similar to the above or try to blend the new entrance to the casino design into a hotel.

Lots of examples in NYC of great Springhill designs, probably unfair to bring up for this site but it's definitely common for them to have other designs.

'Upgraded' hotel may go up outside Bally's Kansas City Casino
...
Officials with the Port Authority of Kansas City on Monday shared new details on the hotel being discussed by Rhode Island-based Bally's Corp. and Overland Park-based developer True North Hotel Group. The parties now contemplate a SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel, just west of the casino at 1800 E. Front St., with 125 to 150 rooms and design features upgraded beyond the flag's ordinary standards, said Joe Perry, Port KC's vice president of real estate.
...
For years, a hotel has been part of a second development phase considered outside Bally's Kansas City, formerly the Isle of Capri, under master plans approved for the casino's $50 million retail and dining expansion, which opened in September. Later that month, Port KC authorized amendments to its lease terms with the casino and Kansas City that officials said would be required before a hotel — at the time said to be on the cusp of development negotiations — could be pursued.
...
Port KC leases 28 acres composing much of the Bally's property from the city and subleases it to the casino. A proposed ordinance would remove the hotel site from the casino lease and allow the port to lease it directly to the hotelier. The change would not reduce Bally's rent. The hotel also would pay additional rent, on top of other revenue sources, such as city convention and tourism taxes, ...
