At this point, if the ballpark doesn’t go in the east village, I would be absolutely stunned

I know the owner/occupant of the building on the NE corner of 10th & Charlotte, and has not yet been approached by any parties wanting to buy.

Falls just outside of the assumed stadium boundaries, so that shouldn't go anywhere is my expectation. Seems like a business occupies it, so I'll stay clear of it.

that building had some cool architectural features. Neat how they used to do things like that. Was it an old hotel that became apartments?

All of those beautiful decorative elements lie smashed on the ground, next to the rest of the ruins.

It's so silly that developers refused to acknowledge that there's a market for adaptive reuse -- you know, like the View, Manhattan, Metropolitan right next door. We all know this building probably isn't in the path of the new stadium itself. KC is just the worst sometimes.

Even if the stadium didn’t go at this exact spot, there would be a higher and better use. What I hate is when things are demoed with no plan in place.

At the very least, an attempt should have been made to remove those decorative elements. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, and they've had plenty of time to have done it.

I don't understand the rush to demo this building now. Like, nothing has even been announced or funded. A demolition can be done in less than a week. If the stadium doesn't happen, we just get more vacant parking lots.

Most likely to keep squatters from taking up residence in it.

Must of been an inexperienced company doing the demo. architectural salvage can bring good money. Just saving some pieces of those things interior designers, renovators, etc. would have good money for. Oh well maybe somebody will pick the ruble

Pretty sure East Village is the spot for the stadium. I get your point. Last thing we need over there is more vacant lots & parking lots that no one uses. I guess the same could be said for not wanting to have vacant building attracting homeless camps, drug dens etc. which makes the area less desirable & easy to develop. City has pushed in all chips to get the Stadium in that area. Now we see if they got the cards so to speakalejandro46 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 8:54 pm I don't understand the rush to demo this building now. Like, nothing has even been announced or funded. Sly James on the downtown ballpark. Was anyone there? What did he mean by this?
https://cityscenekc.com/four-former-kc- ... ary-event/James: “I think there’s a very valid reason to give serious consideration to moving. I also think people ought to pay attention to the overall situation.
“There are two teams at that complex. What happens with one will have a major impact on the other. You can’t separate the two, they’re both under the same lease, they’re both looking for the same thing.
“They’re both talking about stadium issues. Be careful what you wish for, you may throw out one and wind up with none.”

You shoot down the Royals and both end up leaving TSC/Jackson Co.
Royals are not guaranteed to stay in Kansas City forever.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I thought about this recently, and I really think it's as simple as tying the Royals vote to a Chiefs stadium and saying we're getting a Super Bowl if it passes. I just don't think with what the Chiefs are now in the NFL now that over 50% are voting against promising a Super Bowl & a new stadium.
