I didn’t realize B & B was already putting their name on the Mainstreet Theatre. Anyone remember when they are slated to open-might rent it out for a “Dune” watch party! The new movie is supposed to come out in October.

Re: Three Light
Are they keeping the blade sign at the front entrance? Haven't been downtown in 6 months since still WFH.

Re: Three Light
I seem to recall when the Mainstreet was renovated it got historic tax credits that required it reinstall the blade sign. But I could be wrong about that.

Re: Three Light
Cool. Thanks. I need to take a drive through downtown and check out some of the new construction. Our RTW keeps getting pushed out, mostly due to the Delta variant now. Might not be going back until next year now.

Sounds pretty common. Most of your lunch haunts are still around.

Re: Three Light
Ha, that's good to know. I've lost probably 8lbs from just not eating out everyday, whether Jason's Deli, Pickleman's or Jimmy John's...lol. I eat mostly Healthy Choice meals now for lunch and cut out the soda. Occasionally order a sammich from Pickleman's here in Waldo. No coffee shops around 1KCP anymore right? Heard both Kaldi's and Starbucks (lighthouse) both closedKCPowercat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 9:04 am Sounds pretty common. Most of your lunch haunts are still around.

Oh yeah PTs. I forget about them.
Spokes is also a good coffee shop if more in the financial district.

Re: Three Light
What is really needed is a really good diner/cafeteria that also serves a variety of coffees. Think something like the Forum Cafeteria downtown, Myron Green's Cafeteria, Wolferman's Cafeteria, or McClintock's in the olden days. Ideally, they would be configured to also have a takeout window facing the sidewalk.

A mix between a coffee shop, QT and a Luby's could work well downtown.FangKC wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 3:58 pm What is really needed is a really good diner/cafeteria that also serves a variety of coffees. I've also wondered if it's time to revive the automat.

Re: Three Light
Funny you say that. I've thought about an Automat-type situation coming back too.
It might actually work well in hospital cafeterias. They usually close around 5 or 7 pm. It's vending machines after that for people working and being with family members at the hospital. There's a lot of dishes you could prepare in advance, and have them in the box -- especially if you can refrigerate the serving boxes.

Re: Three Light
Hospitals would be perfect for the model. I can see an automat working well as a service like if you show up at the ER at 2am and you're waiting for several hours there's meal vending in/near the waiting room.FangKC wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 5:54 pm Funny you say that.
