Re: Rankings, lists, and such
Did we have the biggest drop, seems like everywhere became more integrated but nowhere close to a ten point drop. The article mentions one other metro did better, not sure who though.
Wonder what the factors were that drove KC towards more integration.

Interesting to see Madison taking off, Wichita not doing much for its size.

The Business Journal is reporting that Kansas City's Metro rose 7 spots on US News & World Report's Best Places to Live over last year's list. Kansas City ranked higher than any metro in Missouri or Kansas. It placed 57th on the overall list--up from 64th last year. Our metro's best attributes were affordability and the job market.

US Census 2020 Estimate has KCMO at 497,159 up from 458,787 in 2010.
ST Louis at 297,645 down from 319,294 in 2010.
So close to 500K!

That data looks to come from the annual Vintage method, not from 2020 Census.

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
KC in top 20 again for commercial and multi-family construction starts according to Dodge Data, first half of 2021. Only 3 in Midwest.
Not bad for about 30th largest market. KC hovering around MSP last several years and often exceeding some larger southern markets like Orlando, Tampa, Charlotte as well as Portland and San Diego on W Coast at times. Austin, Nashville, Denver, Orlando and KC are the only markets under 3M pops consistently in top 20. KC not a hot market by pop growth (probably a good thing) but appears to be so by some key indicators, certainly hot among Midwest.

Wow- BIG increase for KC compared to what they thought we were projected at. There were some speculating we'd be under 500k. Not only that, KCMO proper grew by 11%, which is in line with some of the best growing cities. National average was 7.4%!

It’s on the census website so official now, would be interesting to see how other cities fared.
