Arena dispute lands in court

Bank's chief calls offer inadequate

Kansas City and UMB Bank are headed to court after the collapse of several months of negotiations to acquire key properties needed for the planned downtown arena.

City Manager Wayne Cauthen said the city was forced to file a condemnation lawsuit against UMB to remain on schedule for constructing the 18,500- to 20,000-seat Sprint Center. The planned $250 million arena is scheduled to open in spring 2007.
