Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Water/sewer work will be done first, rather than combined with track construction.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Will the extension be launched in phases or all at one launch. For example, will they build and launch US to 39th St before the rest of the line to 51st St is built out? I know there is a turnaround set at 39th.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
That’s the way the starter line was of course, but it was the starter line. The extension is also longer. It seems if half the new line has the track laid and a means to turn around you could get it open almost a year or more earlier than when all the track is finished.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Correct. The last items will be the connection to the existing track and catenary to avoid lengthy outages on the starter line.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Despite how well it was covered during the streetcar elections, the lawsuit itself basically had no major coverage (especially the final ruling). The media has also not covered the transfer of the CCROW, which is unrelated to the lawsuit but would have merited a mention since the transfer is related to streetcar.

What significance does the transfer of the CCROW mean for the future?DaveKCMO wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:19 am Despite how well it was covered during the streetcar elections, the lawsuit itself basically had no major coverage (especially the final ruling). Streetcar to UMKC runs in a northern section of the CCROW. It just means more progress towards getting Streetcar rolling to UMKC.Anthony_Hugo98 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 11:32 amWhat significance does the transfer of the CCROW mean for the future?DaveKCMO wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:19 am Despite how well it was covered during the streetcar elections, the lawsuit itself basically had no major coverage (especially the final ruling). It crosses the row at 47th and enters it at Volker

I know it doesn’t really affect this extension. But has she taken her fence down? What about the others who are encroaching on the CCROW?

Now that federal money been received, doesn’t that kick off property taxes to start being collected according to the election? When will that start?

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
The House has proposed $2.4 billion for CIG/New Starts projects that received funding in 2019 and 2020 (UMKC and Riverfront Extensions). The HEROES Act distributes the funds proportionally to qualified project sponsors and will not be counted toward the maximum federal financial assistance. It is my understanding that this means KC could receive the 50% Federal match + HEROES funds.
I estimate KC Streetcar to UMKC could receive around $35 million in bonus funds if enacted. Streetcar to Riverfront could get $10 million.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
What does that mean practically speaking if received?
More federal funding allowing for a smaller local tax?
Full funding sooner but just the asked for amount?
Extra money that can be used to do more, like better stops, a full crossover, or an extra train for more operations?
