The glass side is fine (ideally wouldn't have looked like Cordish buildings) but the concrete walls, ugh.

Yeah the building is like that optical illusion that you can see a pretty young girl and and old ugly witch in the same drawing

I don't mind it. I surprised myself, however, by liking the glass side much better than the side with the yellow native limestone. The reflections of the P&L building on the glass wall are nice. In the renderings, I thought the limestone side would be the better side but it looks oddly industrial, especially the little windows on the column where the two flanks of the building meet. I think it was a great idea on paper but it doesn't necessarily work as well once executed (not unlike the extension of the Nelson - which has grown on me through the years).

I'm hopeful that light and landscaping will help some of the more drab parts.

It’s hard to see but some of the up lighting was turned on today (look at the columns).

With Two Light, Loews, Three Light and Waddell Reed, I-670 which is already in a trench, is going to seem like it's traversing a substantial urban canyon. That's going to be an impressive part of DT KC.
Also, how come every picture I've seen on the Rag of KC in the last 6 months has dismal looking gray skies and rain?

We are on track for the wettest year of all time (or top ten). Take a chance to see the building during the day - it looks great in the sunlight. The glass changes colors based on sun angles and as you move around the building.Highlander wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 11:05 pm With Two Light, Loews, Three Light and Waddell Reed, I-670 which is already in a trench, is going to seem like it's traversing a substantial urban canyon. I think this thing’s going to be awesome looking at night. Picture those windows lit up! I wonder if they’ll illuminate the swoosh at the top

Any updates on the FedEx and Palm Restaurant?normalthings wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 2:26 am [glow][/glow]So a restaurant bump out, bike rack and monument sign are being added to the Northeast corner along with an elevated garden above the drop off circle.KCDowntown wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 12:35 am There are a couple new renderings located on the Compass KC Permit site...
Go to to 'Attachment' tab for this permit.
There are two files that are worth downloading - the one titled 'Event Lawn UR Submission' and another called 'NE Expansion Drawing.' The event lawn one has rendering of the outside space above the Wyandotte entrance and the other has street-level views of the NE entrance.
BTW both downloads behaved a little weird for me. Just click on the link and wait about 20-30 seconds (otherwise there is no feedback that you've actually clicked anything.

Also, have the basement Fedex and long term bike parking been in the plans from the beginning or are they new?

Almost all convention hotels have a FedEx package handling office in them.
