"Continuing increases in security expenses that outpace the allowable increases in annual assessment rates and reduce other services offered by the CID continue to present funding challenges"
"As a result, we are looking at reducing some of our other costs, unrelated to security, to meet district needs and any changes will not be noticeable to patrons."
"The estimated security budget for @Westport_KC for 2019-2020 is $1.005 M. Cost of security for 2016-2017 was $850,000"
"If you look at the budget for the Westport CID I, there's a pretty big drop in cash on hand at end of fiscal year. For 2017-2018, it was $790,499.94. For 2019-2010, it's estimated at $670,439.94"

Snooze should be great people watching. I do worry about security issues that late at night with a bunch of drunks. Reminds me of Chubby's.

I'm.old enough to remember Westport CID bragging about all the things they do for the neighborhood to make it nicer.
Now looking to cut those things to keep up the security theater.

Catching up with the forum somewhat this morning; concurring with this point. This is kind of a microcosm of the national climate at this point, no?KCPowercat wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 4:40 pm I'm.old enough to remember Westport CID bragging about all the things they do for the neighborhood to make it nicer.

FedEx is moving its Plaza center into a Westport location. Don’t know where or why however it is planned to open in May.

Their Plaza location meant a lot of people illegally parked, often blocking pedestrian access.WinchesterMysteryHouse wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 11:06 am FedEx is moving it’s Plaza center into a Westport location. Don’t know where or why however it is planned to open in May.

I don't know how old this rendering is, or what the likelihood of it being built is, but I found this on a listing on Block's website for the little lot just south of Broadway Cafe.

The 3 car parking lot seems like a silly use of space, but otherwise, I wouldnt mind this.
A restaurant with rooftop bar and sidewalk patio seems like a good use for that lot.

Regazza opened yesterday, moving to 43rd/Main. Hope to see another restaurant take the old space on Westport Rd.

Re: Westport
My understanding was that the owner of Ragazza would keep the old location and open another restaurant there, but they may have their hands full with the new place and be subleasing to a different restaurant team.
