There is hope! 'Live' has been removed from the Loew's site URL

From what this link says it sounds like the STL will be a "live!" hotel.KCPowercat wrote:Do we know this to be true? Cordish is involved in the KC hotel too.Chris Stritzel wrote:Today, St. Louis gained a Loews Hotel. It will be a Live! one. In regards to this one in Kansas City, this won't be a Live! By Loews but rather a simple "Loews" brand.

and the article also seems to not include KC's hotel in the "Live!" brand category.Loews Hotels has expanded its Midwest hotel portfolio in recent years with hotels in Chicago and Minneapolis. The company recently announced plans for a new 800-room convention center hotel in Kansas City that’s slated to open in 2020.
The Live! by Loews-St. Louis hotel will be Loews’ second “Live!” branded hotel, after a location in Arlington, Texas, opens that’s being developed by Cordish, the Texas Rangers and the city of Arlington.

Maybe they will build another hotel with the live brand then?

Midway through October, the month construction was scheduled to begin. Any updates on a groundbreaking?

KC just has a lot more red tape. Other cities move faster and let's not even talk about how fast Chinese cities move on developments. Either way glad to see it's moving forward.

There is a notification in PZE later today that says a lease is being signed for space in the convention hotel. I haven't heard anything lately about the financing being completed yet, but possibly they will give an update later today. Hopefully this means progress.

The PDF attachment said something about space in the parking garage and meeting rooms.kboish wrote:There is a notification in PZE later today that says a lease is being signed for space in the convention hotel. So I guess closing by the end of the year.A Kansas City economic development agency on Wednesday assigned development rights for a proposed 800-room downtown convention headquarters hotel to a new entity.
...
Now, the developer is KC Hotel Property Owner LLC. It is wholly owned by a joint venture between KC Hotel Developers LLC and Loews Hotels Group Inc., which replaced Hyatt Hotels Corp. as operator of the new convention hotel in June after agreeing to make a major equity investment.
...
“We’re looking to close by the end of the year,” Koch said.
After the financing documents are approved in November, Koch added, bonds will be priced in early December.

So groundbreaking early next year. Three months delay is not that bad.

New Airport should help drive demand for this and other hotel projects downtown.

I can't read the article, but from the tidbit posted it sounds like LCRA has to approve documents and they are shooting for a late December financial closing so we should see movement in 2018.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
LCRA is set to approve financial documents Wednesday to set up a December closing. If they don't close in December the project is in jeopardy because the firm construction estimates expire. The developers are scheduled to provide an update on Thursday to the council business session.

Downtown KC convention hotel slated for 2020 completion after receiving new approvals
http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/ar ... 78253.htmlThe Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority, an agency that grants tax breaks, approved a slew of new agreements with KC Hotel Property Owner LLC, the new owner of the 800-room project.
That paves the way for an expected Jan. 2 groundbreaking for the $322 million project, with an expected completion date of 2020. That’s just months before 20,000 visitors are supposed to arrive as part of the Shriners International convention in July 2020.

KC seems to have a slower development pace than other markets - 2020 seems too optimistic or will otherwise be impressed if met. Ditto with new airport target date.
