Many companies ponied up cash in the final days before the election. Good to see this kind of support:

In the final week leading to the Aug. 3 vote, a who's who of Kansas City corporations donated a total of $189,600 to the Citizens for a Downtown Arena.
Sprint Corp., Yellow Roadway Corp., Kansas City Power & Light Co., Missouri Gas Energy, American Century Investments and GE Employers Reinsurance Corp. each ponied up thousands of dollars.
The Hotel and Lodging Association of Greater Kansas City, a one-time opponent, gave $1,000. Kansas City's existing sports franchises, the Royals and Chiefs, each gave $5,000 on July 30.
Steve Glorioso, a pro-arena campaign organizer and aide to Mayor Kay Barnes, said proponents originally budgeted $400,000 to $500,000. He said the late money was a response to opponents' spending.

Local Comapnies Support Pro-Arena Campaign
Final campaign finance reports from the arena race puts the total on both sides over $2 million. That's the biggest issue campaing ever in KC. Someone worth watching is Ann Dickinson of Bank Midwest's Dickinson family. She contributed $200,000 of her own money to the pro-arena campaign. Good to see another player step up for downtown causes.
