please cordish, go with goodcents. Subways are littered all over downtown now anyways...
How about a Jimmy Johns, those are pretty cool and have their own kindof cult following. People rave about Jimmy Johns. The only one closeby to my knowledge is on 43rd.

"Tex-Mex" = Chipotle, Baja or Qdoba.
I'd rather see a bit more unique or upscale outlets go into this "fast food" area. I'm fine with a "burrito" place, but the other stuff should be a little more distinct. It'd be cool if the "Chef Express" was a fast outlet/counter for food from the anchor restaurant. Dean and Deluca's deli would also be perfect down here.

I was thinking the anchor would be something pricey and more high brow-- think Block exec lunches. A restaurant that reflects Block's new digs.KCPowercat wrote:anchor restaurant....BBQ?

That's what I thought when I first saw that. A Wolfgang Puck restaurant would also be huge as the anchor restaurant.cdschofield wrote:Chef Express = Wolfgang Puck Express

Johnny Rockets has already been here, done that (Oak Park, Great Mall). But anyways, I'd like to have them back.

I'd bet on Planet Sub, too bad for me since their subs and my tract don't exactly agree. Goodcents already has a location less than 2 blocks away from this site so unless they move it probably won't be them. And yeah, Subway is already all over down here.

I was suprised by the size of the footprint of the H&R building...I thought it would be bigger, maybe taking up more of the block.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Main Site Proposal
OK I'm going to go through all these and select my dream team of retailers given the guidelines of the site plan and then my best guess.
Anchor Restaurant = Emerils or local chef (I fear what might go here actually)
Chef Express = Wolfgang Puck Express (fits perfect in here)
coffee = Rosterrie (but will be starbucks)
retro diner = winsteads (johnny rockets probably)
sandwich = planet sub (subway unfortunately)
pan-asian = ?
tex-mex = Chipolte
sushi = Kabuki 2nd location (some chain)
cafe = ?
Theme of this block = fast food alley

Re: P&L District: 13th & Main Site Proposal
This project seems too fancy for Planet Sub, they seem to like to move into locations nobody wants, cheap, and make it successful.
My guess is Jimmy John's. Theres one at Westport and Roanoke and it's very good.

I was snooping around and it looks like it has to be a local franchisee for Johnny Rockets. Missouri is available except for St. Louis, no mention of Kansas. A local would have to put one in.

Don't forget about a Quiznos for the sub shop. There are Quiznos out there that are quite nice actually and could easily fit into this setting. A Mr. Goodcents would also be nice...being that the franchise started in the Kansas City area.
As for a Wolfgang Puck...YES! That would be very cool. Their cheese ravioli and BBQ chicken quesadilla are to die for.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Main Site Proposal
Apparently things are progressing pretty fast... On KCMO.Org I found this document requesting bids for the demolition of the Main Street Morgue, American Bridal, and the GoldMine.
What, oh what, will downtown do without the GoldMine and the building that once housed the Magic Touch????? Hard to justify this project if these are the consequences.
