Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)
I saw it last week. I think that only one pane of the glass is broken so it might not be too apparent after dark.

Dont think its actually broken. looks like someone ripped off part of the frosted decal. standing here now looking at it. False alarm, P&L is still a success.

Fire breaks out at Sprint Center
A fire broke out on the seventh floor of the Sprint Center shortly after 6:10 a.m. this morning but was put out within 45 minutes.
A “light haze of smoke” filled the arena, said Kansas City Deputy Fire Chief Paul Berardi, but it should dissipate quickly.
No one was injured and Berardi said the Big 12 Basketball Tournament later this week will not be impacted. Damage was estimated at $5,000.
Fire officials said the fire started in an air intake room. A heating element that hangs from the ceiling dropped onto the floor and caught fire.

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures
i wondered what all those sirens were for at 615 this morning. i'm not a fan of my last hour of sleep being disturbed, but i guess keeping the sprint center from burning down is a worthy cause.
i guess.
i guess.

Has anyone noticed the billboard that they are putting up RIGHT ON the Sprint Center grounds?!!?!??!?!?!?! I realize that it probably is to advertise future events, but couldn't they have done something (anything) more attractive than a monopole billboard right on Truman & Grand???? It doesn't even appear like it will be very visible from the highway... just Grand.
Guess the Parks Board didn't have any issue with this?

You absolutely will NOT be seeing this from I-70. I hate it. What a piece of garbage so far. Normally I'm the "wait and see" type, but there is nothing that can be done to improve on this.

Ugly!
Is it going to be just another billboard, or will it be like the LED billboard at Cambridge & I-35 that only features Sprint Center events?

if it's not an LED board that looks good i'll lead the crew to disassemble it in the dead of night.

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures
I drove by that thing today and about freaked out. It looks like the ones going up by KCI. It's just massive. I hope it's something high tech as well.
So long as it is high tech, LED or what not and it's for the Sprint Center (won't have ugly static ads), I think it will be cool. The structure is rediculously overkill, so I would imagine it will hold a big digital display of some sort.
I still think that the TSC should have something like that near Blue Ridge.

I think it's fine. It fills in a void on that awful corner.

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures
What is the big deal with it? Let's wait and see before freaking out. I'm sure it will be for the sprint center. I guess I'm just crazy, but I like urban areas to be busy with stuff like that.
