DIVERSITY
We tend to spend a lot of time discussing the need for diversity and multi-culturalism in KC, yet (probably) 99% of this forum is composed of honkeys. Perhaps we should have a membership drive targeting other races so we can truly get a broad perspective of the topics at hand.
For example, I would love to hear the thoughts of the Amish or Native Americans regarding the feasibility of an airplane taking off from a giant treadmill.
What would an Eskimo think of the smoking bans?
How would an inner city single-mother of 16 think about a proposed IKEA in the metro?
What does our growing Hatian population think about the expansion of the ice rink at 435/Johnson Drive?
Harmony in a world of difference...

Slappy, I'm so pleased at your enlightenment. Can we count on you to lead the existing forumers in a pluralism sensitivity session, so that our new members will be warmly embraced.
Especially at this time of year, your breakthrough brings a tear to my eye.

It's ok if we call one another honkeys (the "h" word), but no one else can or it's a REALLY big deal.AllThingsKC wrote: The proper term is, "European-American."

Re: DIVERSITY
actually, how many of you European-American forumers have a majority ancestry from a particular country (i.e 80% Dutch). I know there are lots of folks who are pretty blended, but there are also lots of folks who are overwhelmingly of one stock (i.e German).
It would be interesting to hear about it

Re: DIVERSITY
I hail from pale, pasty-skinned folks as well: Swiss/German/Scottish/English/Irish here. My family is most-influenced by my Swiss ancestors though. My great-grandmother was half Native-American, but I'm uncertain as to the tribe. I didn't inherit any tanning genes from her though.
My Swiss folks hail from Wattenwil, in the Canton of Berne. We trace back there to before the 1500s.

There is no fifth destination.
