Online petition for H&R block to move downtown?
It's been suggested to me to start an online petition to send to H&R block to show KC support for them to move downtown...
anybody think this would do any good? If so I could get it started up pretty quickly.....

I second the motion to start an online petition for H&R Block to move downtown. If things didn't go our way, at least we couldn't say we didn't try a bit...

Lets do it, start a great email that all of us could forward and get it going around the city with a link to the site and petition.
Something like:
If you are interested in returning Downtown Kansas City and the metropolitan area back to a world class city, than please sign this (link) petition and help persuade H&R Block to build it’s World Headquarters in the Downtown Loop.
We need our local companies to step up the plate and even though H&R Block has already stepped up many times over (they are a very good corporate citizen), the company is our only chance right now to bring a world headquarters downtown that will anchor a new entertainment district and possible sports arena.
Downtown is truly on a role, there are hundreds of millions of dollars worth of developments going on in the area, but there’s another piece to the puzzle that has yet to develop and that is a large destination retail component to fill in and tie together burgeoning areas of Downtown.
I hope every Kansas Citian looks forward to being proud of Downtown and Kansas City in general again. Bringing H&R Block downtown would go a long way in achieving that goal.
I hope we can get your support and you forward this email to as many Metro Kansas Citians as you can.
Thanks for your time.

Sounds good, but you might want to leave out the "sports arena" part if you want to get the anti-arena folks involved as well.

What's with the grammatical and spelling errors? Can you please fix it so it doesn't look buffoonish.

here what we had.....change it around and I'll have somebody start another one:
To: CEO & Board of Directors of H&R Block
We, the undersigned, want to urge H&R Block of Kansas City, Missouri to relocate their new headquarters in the downtown area of Kansas City, Missouri.
We believe the downtown area is starting to grow once again and the location of H&R Block would further enhance the downtown area and the entire Kansas City metro area.
Sincerely,

Que I agree with keeping the arena out of the email, that was just a quick thing I threw together, I'm open to anything.

Guys, I don't want to play the role of the bad guy. But Mark Ernst and the management team at H&R Block could give a rats ass about an online petition from an obscure messageboard featuring a 12-year old kid who wants a 1400 foot fountain honoring the St. Louis ARCH.
H&R will follow the mooolah.

KCSKYSCRAPERS changed my life. I was on the edge until I visited this site. Now I find myself longing to dive off a 60 story building onto a frozen fountain paying tribute to the St. Louis Arch.

that's what I kind of figured but if something's suggested to me in this forum I'm going to give the users the chance to speak on it.

What about starting the petition and then emailing it around to friends, neighbors, and family? Ernst would disregard a petition signed by 10 message board users, but what about a petition with hundreds of names across the metro? Don't underestimate the importance of public pressure on corporations, especially ones that are highly dependant on their brand name.

g2g you sound you really freaking hate me and I wanna know why...
btw bud, IM 15!
besides that honoring the arch would only be an excuse to make it go taller.

I don't hate you, but don't expect an invitation to Neverland Ranch anytime soon.KCDevin wrote:g2g you sound you really freaking hate me and I wanna know why...

agree w/ G2G, unless we all bend over and take it in the rear like the City of KCMO is willing to do (and OP), H&R could really give a sh!t about a petition signed by a bunch of geeks w/ good intentions. now where did i put my PS2???
