RUMOR: World's tallest proposed in KC?
A friend in construction in Atlanta sent me an email this morning after seeing the lead story on www.globest.com which outlined a Huge KC project. Is this a joke that was picked up by this site? Anyone know about this?

That is unbelievably bizzare. What in the world kind of web site makes up development news and presents it in a bland and unassuming way...weird.

I'll try emailing the author of that article. That sound's totally fabricated, doesn't it?Downtowner wrote:A friend in construction in Atlanta sent me an email this morning after seeing the lead story on www.globest.com which outlined a Huge KC project. Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap.
I'm holding on the .05% chance this could be true. Why not make some grand destination like this right here in the middle of the country? I really don't think it would draw in the people itself, though, so thus the 99.95% chance it is fabricated.
Nonetheless, the website looks legit.
Wow, imagine what investment like that would do for us. Wow.

It's a joke... 115 floors? lol
When I first read it, I thought about the riverfront space that the city is pushing. Then when I saw the 115 floors, I laughed.

Well, the holding company exists. Google turns up nothing on the corporation or project name.
Maybe this is a teaser for a smaller eventual project.
I don't see this as completely impossible. It sounds like they want to make it an attraction for its own sake -- something so expensive and absurd that people come to it. There is no reason they couldn't do that in KC.

It is fabricated...read the language..."the most expensive hotel in the world"...just sounds stupid. Everything in the development is the biggest, tallest or most expensive something.
Someone's having a laugh with this.

If this news is not in the local media by tomorrow, it could be true.
I have no idea why it would be in a publication unless it is true.
This is astronomical.

Although I think this would be incredibly cool, it just has to be fake. Cool as it would be, KC could not be this lucky to pull something like this off.
But then, who thought that the Mall of America was a joke when it was first announced. People said: "you're gonna build WHAT? WHERE?"

Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.

It sounds like Devin is behind this. Devin, what's the scoop??trailerkid wrote:Everything in the development is the biggest, tallest or most expensive something.
Although the plans sound a bit outlandish, I don't see it as an impossibility. Its time for the EDC to speak up if a Letter of Intent has in fact been received.
I think the author was afraid that the story would be seen as a joke, that's why he included the last line in the story:
GlobeSt.com has confirmed the facts of this story with the EDC of Kansas City and has interviewed Mr. Lachman for a follow-up story.

I can confirm what KCLofts is stating, that last line was added to the story later.

"2,460 feet, 115 stories"
Our VERY STRICTLY ENFORCED FAA height limit is 2049ft above sea level.
That exeeds the height limit by alot.
Unless they intend to buy the air or the FAA's pockets it wouldn't get far.

interviewed Mr. Lachman for a follow-up article. whether the project can be financed
remains to be seen. it is my understanding that more information will be relased
publicly on Monday, May 3. \

Obviously this story sounds like a huge joke but I'd be interested in any
information that you have. $12,000 hotel rooms? Come on at least make it
reasonable sounding

The story is so outrageous yet this is a legitimate website that seems to be checking this out. I sent this to a Star reporter who is looking into it....he also seems very skeptical. A google search does turn up a Lachman in Vancouver. We may be one of a few cities with a 1000 acres to spare! My friend that forwarded this to me has never been to KC but thinks we're really big time now....lol.

I asked him where they will put it, and hopefully he will reply. Maybe we can catch them if its a lie.
