Re: P&L Building
Likey likey so far. A wooden structure is odd and a cheapish shortcut for center of downtown but outside an ideal taller mid/hirise going in this spot, this is a nice project. Especially with the contiguous streetfront retail, patios and non-uniform surface. Hopefully they follow through with use a two-tone wall surface than something monotone, like a mix of brick and something else as the last rendering showed.

Re: P&L Building
Just a little FYI...only the exterior is wood construction. The inside of the structure is a parking garage built out of preformed concrete pieces. The developers wrapped the exterior of the garage in wood frame apartments. Northpoint, being a largely industrial developer, is very familiar with preformed concrete construction and built it far from cheaply. Northpoint really wanted this project to be a legacy project. Also, in regards to the facade, I believe it is to be claded in a mix of stucco and brick, similar to Centropolis on Grand (same architect-NSPJ).earthling wrote:Likey likey so far. See these photos from late last year to see the concrete part going up.

Re: P&L Building
The new lighting is garish and very unlike the historic color scheme. Should pull any historic tax credits unless they correct this atrocity.

Re: P&L Building
I do wish the top did the traditional green / red / white rotation on a regular basis... Want to do special colors for special events... Fine.

Re: P&L Building
Agree with Dave, the new lighting looks great. The colors will change consistently. Northpoint has really done a great job on this project - the amenities package and finishes are second to none. And the Beacon Lounge and surrounding terrace are spectacular - would be one of the most killer spots in the city if open to the public.
I will admit that the entire project would have been better had they stuck with a more accurate Art Deco theme, however.

I'm fully on board with restoring the top lantern to its original glory.... He'll the top isn't even lit up now.... Do whatever you want with the other uplifting, but bring back the original cigar end and rotating green, red, white

Re: P&L Building
Those LEDs are way too bright and I do wish they would just wash the building in *soft* white most of the time.
It seems like they either do a theme or leave it dark.
I miss the green, red and white lantern, too.
