Re: KC's New AFL Team!
How come there's nothing about it on the AFL site? But, they do mention about Utah getting a team

Yeah, I tried that, but it's not letting me through to the contacts.....it just gives me the season-ticket page again...

Ok...to clarify.....I didn't put in a team name, I looked for contact info for the team. It's not present on the site, as far as I could tell. That is all.

Great! I hope this is very successful.
However, the initial Web site is hard to navigate.
Infinite Solutions' Web site is riddled with grammatical and capitalization errors.
I've met Tyler Prochnow. He's a real good guy (and good hockey player, too). I'm sure he will do a very good job. Just don't let the Web vendor write the upcoming marketing copy.

The same people to paid to watch the Outlaws???  Hopefully, the Arena Football team would be at least a little bit better than the Outlaws.pittsburghparoyal wrote: Who's gonna pay $30 to go watch this?

And if I'm not mistaken, the AFL is an established league, and has been in a growth mode for quite some time.
(And by growth mode, I mean slow, sustained, careful planning. Not that bullshit that the ABA tried, with the Knights playing with roughly 17 expansion teams in just one year.)

Re: KC's New AFL Team!
I have watched some arena football on TV. It is an entertaining sport with lots of scoring. On the radio the other day I heard that most seats would be $20 or less. They only have 8 regular season home games a year, so season tickets would be cheap.
A losing hockey team in a third rate minor league doesn't compare to arena football at all. I predict that arena football would be very sucessful in KC.

I agree 100%. The Outlaws were a joke from jump street and can't be compared to a well-established league with a national TV contract.A losing hockey team in a third rate minor league doesn't compare to arena football at all. I predict that arena football would be very sucessful in KC.
I don't think tickets will be $30. At least not upperdeck, which is a good seat for this type of game.

Re: KC's New AFL Team!
I think a lot of people will. The AFL is really growing...has a national TV contract and will be a good bridge between football and baseball here in KC. Get some local Big 12 guys on the team and it becomes even more attractive. Much different type of team than say the Knights, Outlaws, Comets, Blades, etc.pittsburghparoyal wrote: Who's gonna pay $30 to go watch this shit?

Re: KC's New AFL Team!
Yeah, except they play in March & April, two times of the year when other sports (KU hoops, Royals opening weeks) take far greater interest.
I heard the avg. ticket price was almost $30. If so, this thing will go over like a pregnant pole vaulter. No way it survives. It's a crap league (can you name ONE player?) and you can't tell me we're stupid enough to build a 250M palace for....arena football??

Re: KC's New AFL Team!
I don't think those other sports conflict that badly. KU hoops attendance consists mostly of students, who wouldn't likely attend AFL games anyway, and alumni. There are a ton of non-KU fans in KC. And the Royals wouldn't conflict that badly either, just on Saturdays, right? They could just schedule the AFL games on Saturdays the Royals aren't in town.

The market determines the ticket, not the game. One of the reasons the Outlaws failed is because they set a bad price.
Tyler is smart enough not to price the tickets too high.
It's a crap league (can you name ONE player?)
It's different. I wouldn't say it is a crap league like the United or Central Hockey Leagues.
And, yes, I can name one player in the Arena League, Michael Bishop. (Tony Graziani, Joe Hamilton, Joe Germaine, Clint Stoerner)

I'd be more likely to go to an AFL game than to a Chiefs game.
The Chiefs are inconveniently located and far too overpriced for my tastes.

Re: KC's New AFL Team!
It seems to be doing very well with a national TV contract....that's something the UHL doesn't quite have. It's a unique game playing off America's favorite sport.....I think it will do great in KC.
Here are some sample prices from similiar sized cities:
Denver: (too many to list)
goes from $58 to $7
Nashville:
$110 (first row)-$7
Columbus:
Rows 1-3 sold out.
Lower middles $30
Lower corners $25
Lower ends $20
Upper middle $18
Upper corners $13
Upper ends $11
Seems like a good balance.
