This is the kind of variation that would be nice to see with the Cordish Light buildings. Nice contrast, not 'the projects' feel.

I think the CMH research tower is probably the best piece of architecture built downtown since maybe H&R block

Re: Hospital Hill activity
Makes sense to pause it, as that build is not tied to grant dollars, donations, etc. Non-research tower I believe is related to expanded patient facilities and such. Can't get that going until the revenue faucets start running again. I'm sure there are a lot of hospitals in the area in the same boat.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 8:39 am CMH is putting their non-research tower construction on hold.
Hopefully in the up coming weeks they will be able to get back to generating revenues and bringing back staff that was furloughed, etc.

I stare at it from the 21st floor at two light daily. From the distance it looks attractive, but damn these pictures show how incredible the design is. Really happy with the way this is coming out.

Pershing is the most European like boulevard in town with its monumental stone buildings and master planned Crown Center. These buildings give the vast space an eastern terminus view.

Makes for an interesting contrast to the brick building.

Re: Hospital Hill activity
two floors. The top will be shell space for now.
Other updates from CMH:
1) The research team is going from floor to floor and will start move-ins next month from bottom to top.
2) All capital expenditures besides the research tower and the clinic building are on hold.
3) Inpatient floors at CMK (Overland Park) are closed and will remain for the time being - possibly for good.

The lighting on the new tower is super cool. Just saw it for the first time tonight and it looks like Vegas on hospital hill.

Are they able to add additional floors in the future?gfenn11 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:55 amtwo floors. The top will be shell space for now.

Did CMK have much planned cap-ex wise anyways?

I'm sure they could, but it might interfere with the helipad as that's directly to the South. It's also more than likely just for the construction phase, but they added a ton of temporary supports in the garage below, so I'm not sure if it could handle more weight or not.normalthings wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 10:28 pmAre they able to add additional floors in the future?gfenn11 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:55 amtwo floors. As for CMK, it is mostly a seasonal hospital as it only reaches capacity (or anywhere near it) during RSV season. They moved some outpatient testing out as well recently, so there's even more space available. My dept staffs both campuses, so it has made it quite interesting for us.
