Any estimate for total number of units in the pipeline for greater downtown. Realistic projects, not the announced ones not yet financed.

That includes all proposals, even the ones not yet financed.KCDowntown wrote:I've got the total of all the proposed units at 3875, which would add approximately 6000 people downtown.

This project is under construction on an empty lot where it looks like a couple of nice three-story brick apartment buildings recently stood at 2525 and 2527 Cherry:

Interesting that they're using a traditional style that's more similar to their 1990 (?) building than the 2004-ish one.
The rendering would have been WAY better with the clown looking out of one of the attic windows.

Haha yea Ronald is looking extra creepy in that rendering, but in a window it would be one of the creepiest things ever made!chaglang wrote: The rendering would have been WAY better with the clown looking out of one of the attic windows.
Interesting that the rendering is on a corner lot. Isn't this in the middle of the block?
And I think this is a good looking house. I was really disappointed when they tore the apartment buildings down, but I suppose this will be a decent replacement.

Correct, it is mid-block and not on a corner. On the northern border of the site (left side of rendering) exists a narrow driveway for the neighboring home. That may be what we're seeing, or there may be a new or widened shared drive to access parking in the rear.

What a terrible waste, especially considering that five new versions of the 3 story colonnade apartment building are being built on the north side of 27th street, east of Tracy.

If the information is correct, that would be great.

Re: On-going downtown development projects
Would this be the second phase of Rivermarket West that has been talked about? I thought that was only supposed to be 4 or 5 stories, but maybe they decided to add more. Seems like a smart move.dnweava wrote:just heard from a source that an 8 story apartment building is planned for the empty lot between 4th/5th streets by rivermarket west.
Man the River Market is REALLY densifying right now. I love it. Soon there won't be a single vacant/parking lot in the entire neighborhood.

What, you're not drawn to the area by the ample city-owned surface parking?

Re: On-going downtown development projects
what's really sad is the winning response for developing said parking lots was a deplorable excuse for urban infill. there is pressure to redo the RFP and get a real urban developer/architect on the project.

I don't think I've heard about this. Any more info?DaveKCMO wrote:what's really sad is the winning response for developing said parking lots was a deplorable excuse for urban infill. there is pressure to redo the RFP and get a real urban developer/architect on the project.

which is why I keep seeing people park over crosswalks and in front of fire hydrants at the market...Eon Blue wrote:What, you're not drawn to the area by the ample city-owned surface parking?
it's going to take a major fire before the city bothers to properly mark hydrants with do no park here paint and signs

And if their were, they would probably need those signs.
