Re: 2013 NCAA Tourney
A different kind of National Tournament, the Toughest Weather Cities. Kansas City beat out Indy in its first round matchup, up next Green Bay which I doubt they get past.

Re: 2013 NCAA Tourney
So just a thought experiment - if K-State beats KU in Manhattan and in Kansas City, are they a #1 seed?

No. Duke or Miami are. K-State would probably be a 2.

Florida? Oklahoma State?pash wrote:A 29–5 K-State team that was the outright Big 12 regular-season champion and the tournament champion absolutely would have been in the conversation for a one seed. But, yeah, Duke or somebody probably would have got it instead. The counterfactual Kansas wins still would have been the only really impressive wins on the Cats' schedule.

Especially in light of their first round exit. Damn, had them going a lot farther.

Except when it comes to the number of national championships. But, yeah, the SEC was really down this year in basketball. Glad to see Missouri basketball fits right in.pash wrote:Speaking of first-round exits ... I guess we knew the SEC is terrible at basketball.

Grantland predictions for the first day of the Tournament
I'm a little late on this, but it's worth checking out. Mark Titus is a pretty entertaining read.

#Haith will be trending
If you don’t know about the #Haith movement already, it’s time you learn. Frank Haith, head coach of the Missouri Tigers, is the greatest thing to happen to college basketball. When he’s not standing on the sideline adjusting the waistline of his pants while his team chokes, he’s standing on the sideline staring into the distance while his team chokes. Simply put, if Kevin McCallister’s cousin ever met Haith, she’d tell him that he’s what the French call “Les Incompétents.”

Hate to see KSU go down. The Atlantic 10 is a juggernaut so far. I don't think they've had a loss yet. Temple, Butler, La Salle, VCU, St Louis all are through to round 2 with VCU and St Louis in blow outs.
Missouri Valley looking good too.

Re: 2013 NCAA Tourney
Totally stupid question, but why is the Missouri Valley Conference the "host school" for Kansas City when there is not a MVC school within 200 miles of here and we don't host their conference tournament? Couldn't UMKC use some good pub as the "host school"?
Also funny that all the Sprint signs at Sprint Center were covered up. Cause you know, AT&T is the official cell phone provider of the NCAA.

Re: 2013 NCAA Tourney
It would be hilariously petty if they covered up the huge logo on the roof of the sprint center for those aerial shots. Maybe they brought in all that snow?KCMax wrote:Totally stupid question, but why is the Missouri Valley Conference the "host school" for Kansas City when there is not a MVC school within 200 miles of here and we don't host their conference tournament? Or bleeped out the word Sprint when referring to Sprint Center.kboish wrote:It would be hilariously petty if they covered up the huge logo on the roof of the sprint center for those aerial shots. Or blurred the words Sprint Center that were painted underneath one of the baskets.kcjak wrote:Or bleeped out the word Sprint when referring to Sprint Center.kboish wrote:It would be hilariously petty if they covered up the huge logo on the roof of the sprint center for those aerial shots. UMKC should have hosted...I assume there is some sort of financial payment for "hosting'?KCMax wrote:Totally stupid question, but why is the Missouri Valley Conference the "host school" for Kansas City when there is not a MVC school within 200 miles of here and we don't host their conference tournament? Re: 2013 NCAA Tourney
I spotted this guy in the second half of the North Carolina game sitting midcourt, about 2/3 of the way up from the court. Or, I spotted a white dude with a mullet and old school 34 jersey and I assume it's the same guy. If there were two of them there this weekend, that totally explains KU's performance.chrizow wrote:
