Was he just talking or is that a real thing?
It's possible. Is it likely? I dunno, but they're on tour now talking about "Unfunded Needs" and transit operations is in there. It's assumed that's what they'll dole out with any funds that go directly to DOTs from the IIJA.

https://www.modot.org/unfundedneeds

There's a public meeting in KC about it on Tuesday, Dec. 7:

https://www.modot.org/high-priority-unf ... c-meetings

In conversations at MARC, it was suggested that the "multimodal" split would be three ways equally between bike/ped, transit, and freight.

The State of Missouri provides about $350,000 annually for the entirety of the KC metro transit system (that's maybe one infrequent bus line with no overhead costs).

Someone posed the idea of merely extending the sidewalk, but it would be so much better to have scooters consolidated somewhere that isn’t in the way.

“Minor accident” involving the streetcar #801 occurred at Truman and Main. Apparently a truck ran a red light

Would be great if Truman wasn’t 70’ wide at Baltimore.

Any plans in the works to fix the issue with that intersection?

Today's bus bridge was unrelated to the crash, FYI. Another switch problem at Union Station. This problematic thing will be replaced with the Main Street Extension!

Iirc starter like used a cheap switch (cost savings, maybe unpowered?) and also suffers from drainage issues (freezing).

It's heated now. A relatively easy improvement after the starter line opened.

Ridership is starting to look a bit better. Still not where it needs to be, but trending in the right direction absolutely.

Would expect it to bump back up further as events return but WFH/hybrid might prevent from reaching 2019 level.

It’ll surpass 2019, but it might not be this year. Maybe 23 or 24.
