Is Grand open now?
I can't remember Grand being open yet. If it isn't when is it suppose to be opened?

I thought it was supposed to stay closed all this year and most of 2007.

It probably will. From the looks of it, they are nowhere near done yet. So, opening in late 2007 sounds about right.bahua wrote: I thought it was supposed to stay closed all this year and most of 2007.

Re: Is Grand open now?
Not just Grand - I think that they are supposed to have a lot of the P&L roads reopened this summer. All of those H&R employees have to be able to get to those garages. They are pouring new streets like there is no tomorrow. Now what remains to be seen is whether there will be any pedestrian access on any of these reopened roads. It doesn't appear that they are building anything more than roadbeds thus far so I have a feeling we will be seeing these streets reopen with construction barriers right up to the car lanes and no ability for pedestrians to pass.AllThingsKC wrote: Wow! That's just red concrete.
They have two lanes each way of Grand complete-- I'm guessing the curbs and parking lanes will come later. So it should be ready to go this month.

Anyone know what is going on at 12th and Grand today? Some of 12th is blocked near Walnut and there are literally 15 police cruisers in the immediate area.

We talked to someone from Cordish the other day and asked about Grand...he said the plan is to have it open around the Fourth of July. Yeah!

Oh...I forgot...he said when Grand re-opens Oak Street will be closed to knock down the Oak Street bridge and re-build it.

That's fine with me. Grand is the important one, imo.Bridgeworks311 wrote: Oh...I forgot...he said when Grand re-opens Oak Street will be closed to knock down the Oak Street bridge and re-build it.

Having walked over the Oak Bridge quite a bit this Spring I have no doubt that it is ready for replacement.

Looks like they're pouring Grand and 13th at this very moment.
(I'll have to run down there and scratch my initials in it.)
(No, kidding, I'd never do that.)

When are they going to remove the McGee bridge? Or are they going to keep it for pedestrians?

With this construction comes the loss of KC's only known Toynbee Tile. Sigh.

Re: Is Grand open now?
I remember some discussion of this awhile back but I don't know that they ever reached a final decision. MoDot didn't want to keep paying for it since it goes nowhere so they were going to rip it out and not replace it. However the city wanted to keep it as an access point for things like tractor-trailor deliveries to the Arena I believe, and were talking about taking over responsibility for it from the state. Maybe someone else knows what the final outcome was? Anyone?shinatoo wrote: When are they going to remove the McGee bridge? Or are they going to keep it for pedestrians?

Re: Is Grand open now?
The tile couldn't be salvaged? Where was it and what did it say?
Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.
