BMA Tower...

Post by AllThingsKC »

Ok, this is probably a stupid and silly question, but:

Does anyone else notice the number "3" on lit up on the top of the BMA Tower tonight?

Am I seeing things?  Because there does appear to be a number 3.

Anyone know why it's there?

I think I saw that it was "2" tonight. Wasn't paying that much attention.
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

Yeah, it is a "2."  I'm not sure what they're counting down to, since it said "3" for 6 nights!  :?

I hope this isn't their idea of creating a "buzz" before it opens.

Believe me, it is their buzz working up to the public opening.

It says "2" again tonight.  So, what does that mean?  "2" more weeks until it opens?

Yeah, I saw the number for the first time tonight.  It's a really ugly number, too.  Like if you make the number 2 with toothpicks or fluorescent light tubes.

...and they could probably make it a little bigger, too.

They are having an open house for people who have already purchased units on next Tuesday, I believe.  One floor of units will be open to view and the lobby with all it's amenities: salt water lap pool, video golf range, hot tubs, etc.

It now says "OPEN" in even smaller letters.

Now I'm reminded of the scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation where Clark Griswold plugs in his 25,000 imported Italian twinkle lights.

I wish the BMA Tower Park Place would have done that!!!  It would have made those numbers (and the "Open" sign) much easier to read.  Or, maybe it would have blinded me.  Who knows?

I took a tour of Park Place today and the amenities are top notch.  The view is also out of this world.  I really hope that there will be a market for this high end that far away from downtown.  If this works out it will mean that downtown is really alive.  They have one apartment open that is quite possibly the most tacky thing I have ever seen.  Think The Sopranos set as designed by Fran Drescher.  The spare bathroom is all mirrors and has a water fountain for a sink.  I almost asked if the apartment came with its own stripper pole and Anna Nicole Smith blow up doll.
