Independence Ave. and The Paseo
Does anyone know what is going on at this intersection? Saw it last night but couldn't really see what was going on.

Re: Independence Ave. and The Paseo
if you mean the northeast corner, here is some information from Kivanet...
i'm not sure if this is current (the building plans are from 2004, although the land disturbance stuff is from March 2006)
but it looks like the project address is 1620 Independence Avenue. It seems it will be a new building - possilbly called "Weaver Auditorium" and owned by the University of Health Sciences...

Re: Independence Ave. and The Paseo
i think the northeast intersection is this...
In 2005, the University will break ground for yet another ambitious project. A 1,500-seat auditorium will be the center of a new complex that includes wings housing an expanded library and a new student services center. When the new complex is completed in 2010, the existing library space in the Strickland Education Pavilion will become a state-of-the-art patient-simulator lab.

now lets tear down the crappy hotels and spread the housing projects around a bit more in new buildings that are akin to the new housing project buildings on west pennway or in columbus park - reestablish the grid and create neighborhoods! not closed in compounds! and of course after east village happens expand through the area between troost and paseo with market rate dense townhomes and single family homes and commercial uses on 12th and on 9th! hell, all the way to prospect! we'll fix what 60 years of neglect and inept planning decisions have caused!

I've always liked the idea of them taking down the Motel Capri and building over there. I'm fine with the Royal across the street. They spend a lot of time working on that place.

The Capri site would not be a place for the medical school to offer at least a limited amount of housing.
Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.
