For my whole childhood, there was an Amtrak route from LA to Salt Lake City (and on to Chicago), going through Barstow and Las Vegas. It was called the Desert Wind. My family would take it from SoCal to SLC almost every Christmas to go skiing. I chalk up my love of long-distance trains to that route.

Also, Brightline wouldn't be a "long distance" route, but rather focused on serving the LA market and connecting with CAHSR.

6x wouldn't be great for commuting, but it would be great for moving across the state without a car.

It’s enough for 2-3 AM and 2-3 PM hour RT’s without bumping into capacity constraints on the lines.

Fair. Surely you would get a few takers if reliability is high. I really think 6x a day (or even 3-4x) would see significant improvements to Amtrak usage.

There are no active plans to go 6x daily just an idea from him.

I doubt reliability will be there tbh. The junctions in the east bottom can easily add a 10-35 minute delay.

Was not sure where to put this, but these videos are interesting and fun although I'm sure there is no chance of it realistically happening in the next 50 years or ever. Maybe a KC - STL line within 30-50 years?
