No one ever said anything about moving to Jo Co.

I don't really see how an entertainment district fits in with their employees.

I think that they want a clean area where workers feel safe, can easily access parking, nearby restuarants, good happy hour establishments, etc. Some of the same reasons businesses would rather move to the Plaza and Crown Center instead of the loop.

the bottom 28 floors of One Kansas City Place are about 20,000 sq feet, so if you have 20,000 sq feet in H&R's possible building, itd be 35 floors.
If its 35 floors itd have to have from 15ft per floor to 12ft per floor.
If 15ft then itd be 525ft
If 12ft then itd be 420ft
Itd be a nice addition if it were 35 floors.
If it were 38 then:
15ft: 570ft
12ft: 456ft
I'd prefer 15ft per floor ;)

"Block will lease temporary space at downtown site
By KEVIN COLLISON
The Kansas City Star

H&R Block Inc. is moving about 150 employees downtown and plans to use the leased space to test interior design concepts for its planned new headquarters.

Company spokeswoman Linda McDougall said 120 to 150 employees are expected to move into Two Pershing Square, next door to Union Station, by mid- to late November.

“We’re running out of room at our world headquarters at 4400 Main, and we’ve told our associates this will be a short-term solution,â€

Don't hate the player, hate the game. Look at the money/greed driven society we live in and say to yourself,"Is Kansas really doing something that other states wouldn't do in there situation?" The answer is "No!". I think I'd hate H&R Block more since they were originally founded in KCMO, and then they decide to abandon their city/state for another. We can all agree that both sides need to stop draggin' businesses back & fourth across state lines, but instead draw some companies from outside the metro.

look, the whole HR block game is just a ploy to maximize the incentives so they can rape from KCMO and State of MO; they will not move to KS. american century is going to purchase their existing property on main for their expansion and hr block will probably relocate somewhere in mo, not necessarily downtown unless the City drops their pants and bends over again like they did for Farmland (got pork?), Aquila (Enron, KC style), Birch Telecom (pcs envy), Butler Manufacturing (for sale), Gateway (cow is dead, steaks anyone?), etc etc. I just hope HR does not go belly up after giving them the store.

People tend to hate me
'Cause I never smile
As I ransack their homes
They want to shake my hand

Focusing on nowhere
Investigating miles
I'm a seeker
I'm a really desperate man

I won't get to get what I'm after
Till the day I die
"ALWAYS be closing"

... H&R isnt going to move out of KCMO, they wont move to the metro either. our city government wont let em. And if they are smart and know whats good for them, theyll go downtown.

Somewhere in urban KCMO unless they want to be the target off all negative metrowide media and destroy their reputation in Missouri.

KCMO would be the logical choice. I am betting that it will be downtown, if I were a betting man, of course.
I hope it is a high rise, especially since the FDIC opted for a campus complex.
I would be disappointed if they leave the city core. A central location would benefit the entire metro.
I would be even more disappointed if they do the state to state ping-pong for corporate welfare.
There needs to be an agreement for the cluster of counties to not make these offers to these companies. Only companies from outside the metro.
Moving a few miles over does not create more jobs or new people to the metro.
We need to snag something from DFW, Denver, Chicago, or Cali

Dont get me wrong, but Im willing to bet money they are moving to Overland Park. I dont like the idea at all, but for some reason corporate offices are built in midrises out in the suburbs a lot more often lately. Im all for a huge addition to downtown, however the cost, and trouble might not be worth it to them. I truly doubt they would lose to many customers, especially since their corporate location has no bearing on the places they do business.

What I wish is that they would build in downtown KCK. After all downtown KCK is just as central in the KC area as downtown KCMO, and Wyandotte County government would probably sell their souls to get a business like this. However, I dont think that a huge 47 story building would look right amidst public housing and a casino inside a trailer park. This is however the kind of business KCK should be looking for. Instead Marinovich is trying to get more chemical plants, and toxic waste dumps built in KCK. I think there is a proposal to move Deffenbaugh's landfill from JOCO to KCK.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer it in downtown, but I'd also prefer it if Sprint was downtown, but they seem happy out in Overland Park, meanwhile no one is boycotting them for being in Kansas.

The difference is that Sprint was never in Missouri. There headquarters used to be on Shawnee Mission Pkwy.
Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.
