I was going down Main around 55th Street and noticed the old Jake Edwards is now Eggstc.  How long has this place been open for business and is it any good?  I assume breakfast place?

I just drove by there a couple hours ago and noticed the sign.  I don't think it's open though.  The windows seemed all boarded or covered up.

The sign said Breakfast, Lunch and Events.

A friend who's doing some carpentry contracting in the space tells me they have a mid-March target date to open.  :D

A new restaurant called "eggtc" has moved in to the spot vacated by Jake Edwards barbecue in the white one-story building at 51st & Main, next to Minsky's and across from the post office. The sign says breakfast, lunch, and events. By the looks of things, if they haven't already opened, they will be pretty soon.

I didn't know Jake Edwards was gone.  Does anybody else have sweet potato fries?

Eggtc. is owned by Gregg Johnson, the same guy that owns Osteria Ill Centro and the Minksy's chain.

I'll go soon too.

PSA---  Jake Edwards just moved to Waldo, they didn't close for good.  Cheaper rent.  In that little storefront just south of the building that's housed Zeppi's, Walrus Inn, Jamaicamecrazy etc.

My dad and I just ate a late breakfast there. They just opened this past Monday, so this was the first Sunday they've been open, and Sundays are always busy and hectic for breakfast restaurants. There was a forty-five minute wait just for a table, and the place was packed at 11:30 when we got there. My dad and I just ended up eating at the bar so it wouldn't take so long. And the bar...there is a bar, but there's no alcohol...just coffee and espresso and whatnot.

It's kind of a more upscale place than Waids or Village Inn, where we usually go for breakfast on Sundays. Maybe it won't be so crowded and hectic in the future...it's a new place in a high profile location, so everyone's trying to check it out all at once.

We're gonna just stay with Waid's and Village Inn, though.

Its also Easter, probably the busiest Sunday of the year for breakfast places.

The food was good, just fine. I had scrambled eggs and potatos, and it is hard to mess up eggs and potatos, unless you use a teflon skillet or something.

Don't step to my teflon-style kung fu! It roundly defeated your cast-iron-style kung fu in the Conflict of Mechanical Advantage Seven.

Today's Palm Sunday.

It's always been my experience that scrambled eggs cooked in teflon skillets taste like crap, wheras using a regular non-teflon skillet, they taste delicious. So I always cook my eggs in my regular skillet and just endure the hardships of cleaning it.
