Shields is trying to get more city funding for the riverfront walking bridge. Hopes to get O'Neil to agree to more funds for it. O'Neil and Bunch are

Wednesday the city manager is going to announce plans for the use of Stimulus. Shields hopes that they can score some of those $$ for the bike bridge. Sounds lie failure to fund the bike bridge may impact the federal grant.

The NorthPoint project has paused/stalled. CORE ran out of wood and the contractor doesn't want to buy more at current prices. They are trying to wait out the price spike.

My understanding is that there is a bubble in the supply chain due to production stoppage due to covid. Supply slowed (ceased), demand didn't. Should drop back in price once supply catches back up.

Up to 1420 today from 320 a year ago.

Not just covid, 24% tariffs were added to Canadian wood back in 2017 and we get a lot of wood from Canada.

We were building our infill development house from 2016 to 2017 and wood prices were going up even then

It dropped from 20% to 9% in Dec 2020

I'm just glad we're finally filling up the last available empty land in the urban core with these.

should be nice to see that area come to life more and have some vertical structures. Plus the Casino remodel should m ake for some nice things along the River front. Hopefully this can spur more development growth into the East Bottoms and even "up the hill" into the Eastern River Market neighborhoods so you have a nice River Market East/West connected to river front area. A nice front porch to downtown so to speak :)

I'm betting the hotel will be an EVEN Hotel by IHG. Those are health-focused.

I have an idea about who the apartment developer might be, but I'll keep my mouth shut.

Flaherty? Since they tried to build last year. Does anyone know when we might get renderings

Not Flaherty. Someone else that you've heard of recently. I don't want to invoke their name in the event this isn't their project, thus spilling the beans on something that could come later down the line.

Maybe we'll get renderings soon. I guess it depends on if the media is able to get plans out of the developer prior to Port KC's advancement on everything

Ooh interesting, thanks for the info. I’m guessing it’s not cordish since DCole isn’t lecturing us on this post. Will give it a think to find out who it could be
