Absolutely embarrassing. It's a shame that most of these meetings are held at a time that caters to participation from groups like "KC Tenants", and stymies participation from folks in the pro-development world.

I’ve been bothered by that too. It seems to be a little more than a happy coincidence

Aren't the developers working normal working hours? Doesn't it seem that meeting is a perfect time for them? Do you really think Joe Public being there makes a difference? Write in to the board, same impact.

A group of 15-30 people being present and LOUDLY voicing concern about a project is absolutely sufficient to sway a decision at the level of city council and these dev boards.

Not if it's a sound decision. Reason tenants may help is it's a questionable call in the first place.

How many council chambers were full of anti terminal or anti arena people and the city moved forward.

Final plans were submitted today for the riverfront Lux Living apartment building. Not sure means anything or not with all the issues out there with this project, but here are links to two permits: permit #1, permit #2

So this project is not dead?

I think this is one of the more urban projects in KC right now, especially in the riverfront. It needs to happen so that the type of development along the River matures into something less "suburban". Hopefully the city finds a way to get it done or I don't see that parcel being developed into anything substantial.

Plan set uploaded today. Last page includes an overall site plan with the hotel. Large sea of parking apparently planned in the interim.

This is exactly what they announced in the initial plan? Most of this exists today as gravel-dirt parking anyways

From my memory the specifically touted their lack of parking. And the assumption drawn from the mock ups they’ve shown, considering they had buildings up next to the stadium, was that this would be a surface parking light project from the outset.

Turning the current parking into temporary stadium parking until it’s developed has always been part of the project

I have no faith in them only keeping the parking “temporarily”

I mean sure but everything getting developed aside from the stadium was at one point temporary parking down there

First permit:

The footings and foundations submission for the ground up construction of the stadium for the KC Current soccer club. The 11,500 capacity stadium will consist of an aluminum grandstand with high canopy and deep foundations. Amenity buildings with shallow foundations along with the canopy will surround a 75 yard wide by 115 yard long soccer pitch.
