Looks like Starbucks is moving into the old Roasterie space in the H&R Block HQ.
May be reported already but happened to walk by today.

Isn’t there one at 16th and main as well? Or did that one close and they’re moving operations there?Cratedigger wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 9:56 am Looks like Starbucks is moving into the old Roasterie space in the H&R Block HQ.

Seems like local Starbucks are dealing with employees trying to create a union. Anyone else followed that?
Some locations have shut down due to it.

My bet is the Roasterie & Starbucks just swap stores (H&R block and the Plaza)

Would get more business if H&R Block wasn't such a fortress. They don't let people walk through anymore and I think they closed off their cafeteria to the public after Covid. Just very inhospitable.

They'll probably build residential connected by a skybridge next so employees never need to leave the compound.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 2:34 pm Would get more business if H&R Block wasn't such a fortress. Can people honestly not see why they would shut down public access to their building and food court? I mean dcole complained too many people were eating in there and now we are offended more can't?

No, I complained that employees never leave the building.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 7:51 pm Can people honestly not see why they would shut down public access to their building and food court? I mean dcole complained too many people were eating in there and now we are offended more can't?
I complained that they've always been terrible downtown members and besides the building itself, H&R downtown has been an epic bust when it comes to overall impact on downtown. They operate as if they're isolated in a corporate office zone. At one point at least they got out of the building for some meetings here and there but that's gone away years ago. What's the point of incentivizing companies to build downtown if they're not going to live here, eat here or get involved with downtown activities?

Re: Power and Light District Official Tenant List
I think this is the right question. Just getting bodies from the suburbs into an area isn’t the goal. You have to target upper management and HR departments to attract people who want to be in the city and encourage them to live there. Residents should be the goal, not just employees.

Maybe there isn't a point? You can't force it obviously.DColeKC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 11:33 amNo, I complained that employees never leave the building.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 7:51 pm Can people honestly not see why they would shut down public access to their building and food court? I would imagine both stay open. The P&L location is probably a replacement for the City Center Square spot, right?

Whoa, now that sounds curious. Wonder if the Baltimore shop will close?KCPowercat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:37 pmYup. Way different customer base. Made in KC is opening at old Starbucks. So they will have two locations a block apart.
