Futon covers/contemporary furniture

I need a new cover for my futon badly but am having a horrendous time finding anyplace with a nice selection.  Any idea where I could find these?

I am also looking for a new desk.  A corner unit with lots of cabinets to make the most use of my vertical space.  Now, if I were looking for something countrified then I'd have no trouble finding one but I'm looking for something contemporary that's either very light colored wood, steel, or glass.  Nebraska Furniture Mart and the other major furniture stores I've searched in carry little or none of these style desks.

For the futon, I'd check with Abdiana on 20th and Grand.

As for the desk, I'm looking for the exact same thing.  Something ladder style that uses vertical space and has a small horizonal footprint.  Let me know what you find!

funny you mention NFM as a place that doesn't work for you.

i bought my glass and steel desk as well as my funny looking/spacey designed steel  futon there.

i also had been looking around for quite awhile for a new sectional at a good price and finally bought one at NFM at a great price after they opened.

i'm not a money no object person, so i had to look around forever to find something i liked at a price i wanted.

have you tried retro inferno? if i could i would furnish my house with his stuff, alas i can't afford to.

NFM does has lots of futon covers. you could also try temple slug too.

Temple Slug has been selling futons since hippie days and can steer you to quality construction of covers and other furniture.

I've wanted to check out Oggi at 6th and Central, but haven't had the chance to yet. They seem to have some cool stuff.

They have very nice stuff there and the owner and his staff are friendly and helpful. I got rid of all my old furniture before I moved into my loft and replaced it with modern furniture from Oggi and a placed called 1contemporary.com also.

Contemporary furniture stores have been taking most folks for the proverbial ride with the prices they ask for third-world contructed furniture. Places like Oggi will lose a lot of business once sensibly-priced furniture options from Ikea reach Kansas City.

IKEA has ok stuff but they won't be putting Oggi or Contemporary Concepts out of business anytime soon.

Oggi does have some unique stuff and very high prices.  The mark up on furniture is one of the highest in all retail.

Oggi has some nice stuff, but you can find parts of the Club8 collection at Benchmark for a whole lot cheaper if you're willing to put it together.  Also, CONTEMPORARY CONCEPTS 6737 West 119th Street has some interesting/strange stuff.  Online at Ikea.com is pretty cheap, too.  I also thought there was still a Danish furniture store at around 105 and metcalf, but can't remember what it is.  Danish Inspirations went out of business.

I don't see IKEA ever having anything like this. http://1contemporary.com/ideanextcocktables.html
or this http://1contemporary.com/bellezza.html
