So what's the deal on this place? Anyone have info? I'd love to see it stay open.

Yeah, I thought it was closed too until one of my co-workers mentioned going there this past weekend.

About a month ago I asked a bartender there if it was closing. She said that it wasn't, and never was.

That would explain how they're participating in a pub crawl next month.

If they're not closing, the outdoor music at least will have to come to an end (or get quieter) when the Graphic Arts building re-opens.

I wonder if the rumor of their closing affected their business?

I don't mind the messiness, or the live music... but let's get some real music and not jam bands.  And maybe music only two/three nights a week.  I'd love to just sit outside, downtown, drink a beer and be able to converse with others.

With more people living within easy earshot(line of sight, even), I don't think they'll be able to get away with outdoor music after dark anymore.

We recently gave them some recommendations to contain the sound from the band on the deck. I don't know if they are going to implement them or not. We did the same for a similar bar in DT Harrisonville and it worked out pretty well. Kind of kills the view, which is much of the point of being up their anyway.

BTW, downtown Harrisonville is very underrated.

There's now a huge "Building For Sale" sign posted on the north side of John's Deck.

The building was just repainted green, with JOHN'S in big white letters at the top. The building for sale sign is still there though.

It's horrible lettering, too. Just awful.

Huge renovation appears to be going on. Deck-level removed and being rebuilt. John's New, Bigger, Metal Deck is under construction. The deck cantilever's over the sidewalk and the lot to the north.
