Land is under contract, proponent anticipates a call for development proposals. Lawyer representing Emprise Bank (Wichita-based) appeared in support and to state their "great interest in making a large investment in this block." #bankroads

CPC denied blight designation. I'd recommend people watch the discussion to gauge the current temperature of the CPC. https://www.youtube.com/live/w8mvIM0iU44?t=2015
Today, another laugh of incentive policy & development understanding from Council/reps in KCMO! Impressive how difficult this city makes things – requiring developers go through hoop after hoop (more and more financially), while having zero comprehension of their own.

Still passes NPD w/o advance, Council next week. Patterson Hazley votes against says she agrees w/ CPC's interpretation of blight.

Kathleen Pointer in attendance and spoke after being brought up by the lawyer Jerry Riffel (longtime RE attorney).

Emprise Bank plans to renovate the Farm to Table Bread building, "start looking at a denser program for the rest of the lot."

Introduce some residential to that mix and I’ll allow another bank office

Doesn't sound like it – lawyer said Vince/3D hadn't been able to get much traction on the lot until Emprise came along.

I'm curious to hear more about this interaction. Any additional specifics?

No drive thru, correct? Their current location doesn't have one, and it would be a special use permit.

Was asking because there's a dog related business going in to P&L this year. It's not that concept though.

If they stayed in the Crossroads, they were going to have to change their name to Bank Dogs.

Back when I used to use a bank drive through, my dog would go crazy when she figured out where we were going, because they would always give her treats. Now I do everything online and my dog is bored.

Correct.
That didn't stop one from being granted for BOK... on a boulevard, no less.

belfry's downstairs seating area is all built out but not running yet. seems like it would seat 20-30 ish at most. menu details tbd (at least as far as i know) but likely separate/ upscale from belfry's base menu. bar will definitely prominently feature chef tio's new spirits line, which i separately rate highly, but i personally would be incredibly excited for this development even if i didn't. my singular favorite spot downtown.

That's great news, I always fear that it will be full when I visit, doesn't take much.

Dined on the chicken and biscuit before the Folk Alliance last week, dreamy!
