anyone know what's happening with the Cadillac Catering building at 20th and McGee? I don't remember reading about anything, it just had construction barriers put up around it in the last day or two.

IIRC they were going to demo the building because its structurally compromised. That info is a few years old and may be out of date.

they actually just "need the parking" for an adjacent property.

Ha. I remember the article, something about the roof collapsing. No doubt due to neglect.

they need the parking. other than the roof, the building could be redeveloped.

Can The Cashew use it so they don't have to tear down their building?

Yeah, and then someone from the city suggested on Twitter that if the community is that upset about it, they should form a development corporation and buy/renovate the building themselves.

Over the weekend, the wife of the property owner threw out a potential sale number for the building on Facebook. The price was in line with market value, but less than what they have previously indicated as a sale price (the number stated was $213,000).

Two credible Crossroads developers offered to pay that price. Now we will see what the current owners are really motivated to have happen here............

a small building in the 1800 block of wyandotte netted a few extra spaces last year, but there are probably more in the darker corners of greater downtown that no one noticed.

The lot for the Broadway Jimmy John's was fully occupied by an old building, at least along the street frontage. That lot is now something like 60-70% pavement - does that count? Nah, probably not.

The sites of all of the other recent demos that come to mind are currently sitting fallow.

here's two that weren't garages. Inside the loop hasn't seen much true destruction in a while

the block east of the JE Dunn building/garage is half parking, half grass. there were two buildings in 2007

there was a shed-like building in the 800 block of Wyandotte. I know it was there 2011. that lot was expanded

Two that were early 2000's that were really terrible are the Law Building and the Lathrop Building on Grand. Both are surface parking. The Lathrop is the site of the proposed downtown YMCA and the Law is on the north side of the pedestal for the proposed twisting Copaken office tower.
