Exterior renovation and interior demo is completed and from what I've seen driving by I think interior buildout prep has started. Not 100% on that last one but still, it's moving along. https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/ ... lease.html
- New parking meters coming to Grand and 18th, two blocks that have meters on one side but not the other
- New cider spot in the East Crossroads https://www.brickrivercider.com/locations/kansas-city

Looks like Community Grocers is coming back, with some pretty neat technology.
I've used this technology at Love Field and Midway. It's neat and pretty easy! At first the Love Field one only allowed a certain number of people in, but it seemed to be running more smoothly the last time I used it.
Either way, looking forward to having another grocery store downtown. How was it shopping here the first time around?
After shuttering in May to install two new payment methods developed by Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN), Community Groceries will reopen on Friday at 640 E. 18th St.
The "Just Walk Out" system allows customers to insert a credit card upon entry, collect their goods and walk out of the store without waiting in line to check out. The technology uses computer vision and sensors to tell which customers took what and bills them accordingly.
Just Walk Out: Crossroads Market features Amazon tech for checkout-free convenience
MOKAN Goodwill on Friday sought a meeting with Kansas City's development assistance team over a $50 million proposal to demolish its vacant offices and warehouse at 1817 Campbell St., making way for a four-story, 80,000-square-foot building to anchor what is christened the Goodwill Opportunity Campus in its city submission.
The project southwest of 18th and Campbell streets would include Goodwill offices, community outreach and education rooms, plus potential spaces for commercial tenants like a bank, medical clinic and child care center. The development would have` onsite parking at the block's south end, plus potential parking in the building's basement. Beyond demolition of the former Goodwill building, it also would require vacation of a small east-west alleyway on the property.
In its Friday submission, MOKAN Goodwill listed 60 employees, a figure it projects could grow to 80 people with its new proposal. The filing indicates that the project will not request incentives, and contemplates construction between June 2025 and December 2026.
Goodwill presented to the Crossroads Community Association today. We don't take formal positions, but there was no stated opposition. I like that they're staying and growing their services, but not excited about the demo.

I was told by an GW employee that collapse was a real possibility. Not sure how true
yeah, I'd almost prefer them wait for an East Village location after stadium construction or a spot in P&L. A good family pizza place would go great there.
There is a 'Ghost Kitchen' delivery only place on that corner, they might be joining that. They currently have branding for Old Shawnee Pizza though. https://crossroadsfoodstop.com/
