Where's the best cheap Steak? Or a good Taco night....

Post by inkman »

I wanna eat steak every day, but that is a little pricey. On thursdays I usually go to Sidepockets up north for their $8.95 steak special, but lately their steaks have been getting thinner. I used to go to Diamond Joe's for T-Bone Tuesday @ $4.95 but right now I work to much on tuesdays. I could get out of there for 10 bucks and an eyeful.

So the question is.....Where are the good steak specials? I know Fric and Frac has a steak special but don't know the particulars like how good the steak is. Any other specials going on around K.C. that are worth sharing?

Not a taco "night" or "special" per se' , but I love the tacos at Rudy's on Westport Road. It's been too long since I went there...maybe for lunch tomorrow.

I tried the "legendary" tacos at In-A-Tub awhile back...Gawd, those things were wretched .

you're right about in-a-tub. their tacos suck. i guess it's a local thing cause they were real big when i was in h.s. the tub is kinda like white castle, it's one of those places you might go to once a year cause you think it's good, then after you eat the food you remember why it's been so long since you've been there.

I love the 10.95 16oz strip and baked potato at Tanner's on Thursday.

I hear they do the same thing, except a dollar cheaper, at the Quaff on wednesdays. I wouldn't know, in person, because I despise the Quaff so vigorously that I get tired just thinking about it.

Haha, I feel the EXACT same way as you. They are open on Sunday's now too, a sign that maybe business isn't so good?

Anyway doesn't John's have a steak night too?

I call it The Queef. Fitting that in my conversation with the owner, his only reason against moving baseball downtown was because "there won't be any place to park." Queefs not only reign there in spirit, but in the form of intellectual queefing as well.

Sadly, it is the only place to get 6-packs to go that is open and within reasonable walking distance at night.

Haven't been, but I believe The Brick has an 8.95 steak night on Wednesdays.
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

"intellectual queefing" has now been added to my permanent lexicon.

Bulldog used to have a fantastic 10oz sirloin, plus potato, plus salad, for $10, on mondays. I don't know if they still do.

The Queef once wouldn't let me in, because I was on a suspended license, and had a non-driver ID. A friend who was with me had an absolutely shredded Florida driver's license, and he got in.

Another time, another friend got "banned," by the bouncer, because he stood up for a deaf woman who was in line ahead of him. They were shouting at her, like she was stupid or something.
