I’ve earned this self-congratulatory post on my 2017 prediction.

Good to see the airport back in the positive numbers again!

https://www.flykci.com/media/7875/stats-2019-july.pdf

Up 0.5% on the month

I find the breakdown by airlines interesting.

United was the highest big carrier gain being up 9.4%
Delta 4.4%
American 5.5%
Southwest -4.3% - even with MAX issues that seems like a big decrease.
I'd also like to see Icleand Air higher than 17.3% seeing they have 25% more flights.
Allegiant and Frontier way down but Spirit picking up some slack.
Good to see the 3 legacys growing though.

Highly doubt it since SW has non-stops to MKE

Alaska cutting SFO and San Diego.

They made some big route changes today. Pulled out of a bunch of SAN routes. Especially, ones to the middle of the country.

Damn, I loved those flights, i will be on the SAN one in about 3 weeks. I guess those prices will skyrocket again with SW being the only carrier.

It looks like they are beefing up service from Spokane, Bend and a couple other small Western Cities and dumping these Midwestern 1 per day routes

Big bummer indeed. They are doubling down on Pacific NW and California....the planes had to come from somewhere hence the cuts :(

I suspect traffic for 2019 will be down compared to 2018. MAX groundings plus other cuts will put us behind.

Grand Rapids, Omaha and Cincinnati

They bought service through a company that serves the east coast today.

In June 2019, KCI saw almost 700 TATL passengers per way per day. That’s a 13.1% YOY increase and a 42% increase over 2016. For reference, British Airways 787-8’s hold 214 passengers.

Travel to/from Paris (CDG) from KC grew 72% YoY making CDG our top Transatlantic Market.

KC’s 5 Largest Transatlantic Origination or Destination markets:

Paris
London
Dublin
Rome
Keflavik

Delta and United are the two single largest TATL carriers from KCI. It would be interesting to see how it stacks up when you include alliance partners (I assume Delta’s lead would widen). Air Canada, Icelandair, and Delta were up YOY 35%, 32% and 22% respectfully.

none of those numbers count people who take positioning flights on separate itineraries, right? i'm sure that's a very low percentage anyway.

Repost because I put it on the wrong thread.

August numbers posted!

Down 1.7% on the month but still up 0.3% on the year.

Airlines of note (month numbers)

AA +4.8%
UA +2.6%
Delta +1.1% - great to see all the legacy's up!

Southwest -5.3% - MAX issues don't help but I wish this wasn't down so much.

Iceland Air +2% - Only had 29 more passengers this August over last August. Not great seeing they were running an extra flight a day.. They are up 25% on the year though. Running 33% more seats.

How much did the airport commission give in terms of intentives? We're they supposed to be here longer based on the incentives

Icelandair’s incentives ran out this year. The incentives they received from KCAD were in the form of waived fees and marketing. FI had been expected to return as they had been selling 2020 KCI tickets for some time.

I think Legacy European airlines are struggling in general. Adria Airlines just filed bankruptcy, I could see Norwegian gone in the next year or 2. Airitalia is losing lots of money and the Middle Eastern carriers are losing a ton of money.

Quite a few.
