Aer Lingus 2025 schedule is up next. BNA and RDU are listed as most likely with CMH, IND, and STL in the running per the best online "insiders" in this space.

Guess we will see who has the most incentive money to pay.

Well Nashville is the capital of TN and it's most populated city. All of the attention and efforts goes to Nashville as the main focus of the state. Memphis gets some but really it is all Nashville. Plus the state has been very aggressive in luring businesses with sweet incentives and tax packages. Plus no state income tax for residents. They are "tiny TX" of sorts when it comes to their aggressive nature of development.

KC suffers that MO is less aggressive and that MO has 2 large cities to placate to in STL & KC. STL historically has garnered the attention more and that is still the case, although KC has been closing the gap slowly over the decades. Plus with the largest and most over affluent population in the state of KS being literally right across the street; KC plays state tug-o-war with MO & KS which generally holds us back and or creates a zero sum game for adding new businesses & jobs.

So Nashville's boom is understandable while KC's growth is nice & exciting, until it can really start to find the best way to throw it's weight around we will continue to grow slowly and at times shrink. Fingers crossed the growth continues and in regards to our airport it continues its success.

CLE is on the hook for almost 12MM if their Aer Lingus flights don’t meet monthly performance targets. The range of the Airbus XLR is roughly 5000 ish miles, KC to DUB is a little over 4000 miles. Initial tests weren’t promising on full range but I believe they have overcome that hurdle.

However, as others have pointed out - all about the $$$. Corporate support here is absent compared to other cities that have landed service.

Why doesn’t Kansas take that sports betting money they allocated for a sports team (that will literally never make a dent in it) and just get us to $15 mil so we can subsidize and international flight

Southwest extends their schedule tomorrow for April and May. It’s going to be an interesting week with the rumors of a big network overhaul coming.

KC does not need a direct Europe flight. It just doesn’t. It would be a stupid use of subsidies.

Connecting through any mainline east coast gateway hub (PHL for AA, EWR for UAL, etc.), with premium lounge access is a much nicer experience for the higher spenders than an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin.

There are real benefits. Is $12million worth it maybe not but I suspect KC wouldn’t offer that anyways.

I kind of agree. Would much rather have more frequency's to the big hubs over a single Europe flight. Even more frequent flights to mid tier places like San Diego, Pittsburgh, Boston would be much better

Not really an “or” regarding mid-sized cities

Internal memo is saying they are cutting WN flights at ATL by 1/3rd, i would think MCI-ATL would be one of those cuts

You could just say Southwest and Nashville. This thread requires to much googling of letters.

Agree with this. Once they announced the base there you knew it was going to grow pretty fast.

Saw on another site some post our numbers for this update.

Friday 67 flights
Saturday 63 flights
Sunday 79 flights

A little disappointing to me, was hoping we would be over 80, let alone over 70, consistently by now but that hasn’t been the case. Columbus on Sunday is back so there is that.

Southwest announced a new partnership with Icelandair starting next year. Not sure what that would mean for our chances of getting an Icelandair flight back, but my guess is it's not great. Email went out to all Rapids Rewards members this morning:
We recently announced changes that will enhance your flying experience with us and hinted at more news to come. Today, we’re sharing details about our transformational journey to becoming an Even Better Southwest®.

While there are a lot of changes ahead, our 53-year-old core values of flexibility, transparency, and Hospitality are stronger than ever. In that spirit, I’m happy to announce what’s changing and what’s not.

Bags fly free®1 is here to stay.

You love Bags fly free,1 and we’re keeping our industry-leading policy. Every ticket with us comes with two free checked bags.

NEW: Assigned seats for an elevated cabin experience.

For your comfort, we’re introducing seat assignments with different options based on the experience you prefer. Our lowest fare offer will still come with two free checked bags, no change2 or cancel fees,3 travel credits that never expire, and a seat will be assigned to you prior to your day of travel. If you prefer to select your seat when you book your flight, including seats with extra legroom, you will have a few options to purchase these benefits.

Our boarding process will be similar to what it is today–we will board in order, preserving our fast boarding process to get you on your way as quickly as possible. We will begin selling flights with seat assignments in the second half of 2025 for travel in the first half of 2026.

More, more, more rewards.

Rapid Rewards® Members will continue to enjoy our industry–leading loyalty program. All Members will earn and redeem points at the same rate they do today, and we will continue to offer no blackout dates, uncapped reward seat availability, and points that don’t expire. To see how Tier benefits will evolve with assigned seating, click here.

New A–List Preferred Members will be able to select all available seats at the time of booking, including extra legroom, at no additional cost.
New A–List Members will be able to select all standard legroom seats at the time of booking with the opportunity to choose an extra legroom seat within 48 hours of departure, if available, at no additional cost.
All Tier Members will continue to enjoy priority boarding,4 free same-day change,5 and same-day standby.5
All Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmembers will receive details in early 2025 on how their card benefits will be enhanced with our new changes. Until then, Cardmembers will continue to take advantage of the benefits they currently have on their card.
NEW: Vacay the Southwest way.

We’re introducing Getaways by Southwest™ in 2025. This is an entirely new vacation package offering that only Southwest can deliver–with the unmatched flexible policies you know and love. So, if plans change and you have to cancel your vacation, it’s a–okay on this vacay.

NEW: More horizons on the horizon.

We’re launching our first international partnership with Icelandair® in 2025. Customers will be allowed to book Southwest flights through Icelandair. We expect to add at least one additional partner in the next year, and this is just the beginning!

As you can see, we’re focused and excited about the future. We can’t wait for you to experience these new enhancements as they roll out. In the meantime, we promise to continue connecting you to the people and places you love the most.

From the bottom of my Heart, thank you for taking this journey with us. And thank you for flying Southwest Airlines®.
