Voters have approved the arena 59% to 41%. Victory for Kansas City!!! I'm very happy, but still disappointed that 41% was stupid enough to vote "no". GO KANSAS CITY!!!! =D> \:D/

Congratulations KC!

I believe that's pretty close to what Omaha's vote split was. I guess that's the percentage of the population who doesn't believe in having any fun in life.

Fox4 was very misleading and made it look like the arena had already won, however, they still haven't counted KC votes in Clay and Platte counties. Jackson County approved the Rockaway Beach Casino and Gay Marriage amendments, but the rural areas are strongly against them and the state is defeating both.

Phew!!! What a sigh of relief. I had people literally yelling at me at work today telling me how stupid I was to support an arena. Now I can go in tomorrow and yell at them "We won!" They probably won't like that too much.

I was listening to Kietzman during my lunch break today and he predicted the vote to be about 58% to 42%. Pretty close. He also took a call from a caller that made a very interesting comment that Kietzman may put support behind in the coming weeks. The Chiefs play the Rams on Monday Night Football on Aug. 23rd. There's word floating around that 810 WHB may be behind a campaign to carry anti-Enterprise signs and propaganda at the game. What a voice we would make if KC was on National TV banning Enterprise. I think it's worth a look.

If I hear anything else (or anyone else here does), please share.

Just a thought...

I've kind of overlooked the fact that with this arena, we are getting a National Hall of Fame museum in our downtown. That's pretty cool, and there are few sports that people are more passionate about than college basketball. I think that it will be a success, and it will accenuate KC's place in college basketball history. One reason for its sucess will be college basketball's reach into places that aren't near MLB, NFL, or NBA markets. Plus, it will attract people 7 days a week. I can't wait to see what we're going to build...

Good times!

Platte: 59%
Jackson: 58%
Clay: 55%

Thanks, Enterprise. You did a great job of uniting the entire city, north AND south. I'm impressed that Platte County gave it the greatest margin since they have the highest hotel tax and most of the car rental business.

Congratulations KC! I took a roll of the dice when I decided to move out here and found nothing but positive things about this city. Not to mention the fact that things are definitely going in KC's direction now. From the bond votes in April ( I moved here in March) to last nights vote on the arena. I have never been more happier with my decision to move out here. Great job KCP and scooterj on spreading the word. Now it's time to start looking for a loft downtown.

While Enterprise united us, Saundra McBullshit-Weaver was able to divide us somewhat. The arena issue failed in several wards on the east and southeast sides.

I have a different plan to stick it to enterprise: Since my state agency has a contract with Enterprise for car rentals, I have no choice but to use them. However, I do have a choice as to which branch to use. So, I am 3 of my coworkers will only rent in KCMO. Why? Because our state level contract is good until the end of 2005, and Enterprise will have to eat this fee everytime I rent! Since Sept. '03, I rented a car over 165 days. Thats a nice sum of money that Enterprise will be contributing to build my arena!
Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.

I'm astounded by the north of the river support, that's fantastic! It's seeming more and more like the river is becoming less of a divider.

The lack of support in Benedict's area isn't surprising. Anyone know the story though on the demo makeup of those other two areas that went against? I'm especially unfamiliar with that far southeast area near Lee's Summit.

It's similar to Grandview, which is next door... originally white working class but now with a lot of black middle class.
