Something that bugged me today while looking at all of the posters they had put up is how there is a guy and girl in a rolling chair outside....

Construction is now visible well above street level, as the first wall for actual buildings has gone up.

Rtail shops a bookstore and a Steakhouse is what the original renderings show but I wouldn't be surprised if that has changed quite a bit.

Interesting all the different floor levels scattered over the block due to elevation changes.

The first floor levels are very lofty, much higher than on any of the other P&L and KC Live blocks.  I am still hoping for a bookstore here.  There is a nice sized Borders in 4th St Live in Louisville, but I could even settle for a Borders Express.

What is going on floors 2 and up? The entire block appears to already have at least 2 floors.

I was under the impression from some of the renderings that the bookstore got scrapped for the boutique department store (oxymoron?). I think a chain bookstore will open downtown regardless of whether Cordish brings them in.

is this block supposed to be U-shaped, facing west? or is there some sort of enclosed atrium?

Well it's going to be the site of the expansion of H&R Block when they decide to expand, maybe it has something to do with that.

Is there a reason why the retail in this portion has a concrete structure?  It seems like the rest of the retail in the district is steel frame, it's kind of strange that this block should be all concrete structure.  i was thinking maybe because it was built ontop of the parking garage, but the stuff on the 13th/walnut block are also ontop of a garage and were built with a streel structure as well.

So, any possible explanations?
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

That is the future site of the second Block tower, same with the jones store block which will have the condo/hotel tower on top.

These buildings are being built as poured in place concrete structures.  They have been designed to support a future building on top of them.

The garage in the live block is precast - it can't support a large multistory building on top of it.  All of the buildings are steel frame because that is as large as they will get - two stories.
