Shame on KCUR for using the anti-urban, Show-Me Institute as its lead source. The Institute's Executive Director, Crosby Kemper III had no problem with the Downtown CID providing extensive internal security and maintenance services to the KC Public Library Central Branch during his long tenure as the library's director. Also no mention of the massive Health Sciences CID that benefits all of UMKC's Hospital Hill facilities. I guess KCUR determined that there's enough transparency and oversight of that one.

Re: KCUR Trashes CID's
CIDs do lack oversight, but the ones she spends most of her time talking about (the ones that are neighborhood focused) do a good job with transparency by comparison.
It's the developer-driven ones that don't hit the mark.
