If you squint, you might even think it was an airport terminal.

Kansas governor signs bill legalizing sports gambling, MO Senate ended their spring session today without taking up their sports betting bill. Gonna be a while before MO meets back up again.

You all can tell me if this is feasible or not, because I'm not sure:

But what if we put Royals in East Village, and put the Chiefs at 18th & Vine?

I hear alot of talk about all the space over at 18Vine spot...and I've heard some good sources telling me the teams are coordinating together on a move. So it immediately made me wonder about these sites going together.

I hope it's not. NFL stadiums are not for the urban core imo

As much as I am against the Chiefs moving to Village West.. That would be preferable to them coming into the urban core. ^Agree Powercat. NFL stadiums don't belong in what should be dense urban areas.

West Bottoms is the only core neighborhood that I could maybe support.

I'm opposed to leaving the current arrowhead in general but if they do end up moving, West Bottoms makes a bunch of sense.

I've mentioned it before but I honestly believe when the royals move downtown, the Chiefs will have all of the TSC to themselves and will build a new stadium there with minimal construction impact and they will look to transform all of that space in news to ways to not only make the game day experience better but create more of a 365 revenue generating site. I mean they have a lot of land that is grass land right now within the confines of TSC that they could utilize and do so much with. If one group owned it all and had the County as a minimal partner they have a huge opportunity. People talk about Jerry World in Dallas. This could be "Clark Country" and their costs would be less instead of relocating to KS, which I think is just a huge smoke screen. They will listen to KS offers but desire to stay in MO and be sure to leverage it to get as much money as possible. I just think the blank canvas that would be the TSC for a new stadium and complex is too good to pass up. With Village West you have existing tenants and partners you have to deal with and cooperate with. Once the Royals leave TSC you have it all to yourself. Why fight against the Village West retail, SKC, NASCAR, Casino, and the surrounding residential areas, all of which will want their say, voices to be heard, votes etc. TSC is most isolated from this. I just think it is to good of an option for the chiefs to stay put

I would be shocked if anything was built on any of the TSC lots. They could’ve built something in between the two stadiums at any time over the last 50 years but it’s never happened, so with the more active half of the complex (the ballpark) gone, I really don’t see any chance

Honestly if you’re making Jerry World comparisons, Village West is more apt. Jerry World has two other baseball stadiums, six flags, Texas Live and a couple museums right there.

I still think the Chiefs are eyeing somewhere around downtown more closely than people think. I've been hearing some inklings on that.

There is a metric assload of crap in and around Arlington I'm assuming because it is central to the metroplex. Village West is not exactly that, it's more on the very fringe.

It never happened there because it never made sense there. It's county owned land and building up a district like that in a remote area is a more recent thing with sports teams. With the Royals gone, the Chiefs could wrestle away the land from the county and basically do whatever they want.

They will want to stay at the TSC vs going to any other location. The number one reason they would do that is because they have full control and ability to make more profit over how the area develops and where people will park and pay to park.

I still don't think having the stadiums does much. So the Royals leaving actually benefits that Chiefs. The Royals stadium just gets in the way and the teams would have to split any revenue.

If the Chiefs built a state of the art stadium with some limited retail around it and a hotel etc, they would do just fine at the TSC. I mean once again, the TSC in in the middle of a county of 720,000 and only 6 miles from downtown and not far from some relatively affluent areas of western KCMO and the eastern suburbs. Village West is on the very edge of a county of 160,000 20 miles from downtown and nowhere near any higher end demographics.

The TSC absolutely can work for a Chiefs only development.

Washington Commanders buy $100 mil in land to jump the state line from Maryland to Virginia.

As I said a few months ago- watch this whole ordeal as a precedent for what may happen with the Chiefs.

Also the Chicago Bears buying land in Arlington Heights

Whether they truly plan to move to KS or not, I think it is likely at some point in the next 5-10 years the Chiefs purchase land in KS

The Commanders buying that property shows why the Chiefs are more likely to stay at the TSC than move to Kansas. Everybody thought the new stadium in the DC area would end up in NOVA near the silver line metro as part of some huge mixed use development. The site they chose is not near all the big office parks etc.

Turns out they just want a bunch of land so they can do what they want and have enough room to charge everybody for parking. The current FedEX Field does not have enough parking or any room to develop. The Chiefs are not going to move to something like Village West where they won't be able to control all the parking and all nearby development.

Once the Royals move, the Chiefs will either build a new stadium or do a major rebuild of Arrowhead. They will then build have more parking and build some supporting retail, maybe a hotel etc. They don't need or want a mall or anything like that.

It will just come down to the MO side extending the stadium tax and other revenue sources to help them do this. Also is going to depend on if Jackson County will turn over most of the TSC land to the Chiefs after the Royals leave.
