Not sure if it has been mentioned but they are creating a service alley for deliveries behind 39th and are turning a grease trap behind D'Bronx into green space.

Project is breaking ground today

Completion date: October 2024
One of Kansas City's active multifamily builders has started construction on its latest local undertaking: a $66.8 million apartment complex spanning much of a block across from the University of Kansas Medical Center campus.

Jamestown Square, Indianapolis-based Milhaus' ninth project in the Kansas City metro, will bring 226 new studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments to the southeast corner of 39th Street and State Line Road upon its anticipated completion in October 2024.

Lots of vacant restaurant space that probably will not be filled until this is done---Genghis, D'Bronx, Blue Koi.

very cool, was not aware this was going on. I like it. Selfishly I wonder where to park for the Jazz now, LOL. I guess the street unless they have a deal with some of the surrounding garages. But a minimal issue that can be solved easily. Love to see more housing and it will create more opportunities for places to eat, businesses, etc. to service the area. Got some good legacy restaurants and bars in place around the area and this should help spur more in the future.

Sounds like The Fresh Mediterranean Co. from Lawrence will be opening up in the old Bronx space soon.

I was afraid they were going to demolish the buildings there. This gives me a little hope.

This development, garage parking and apartments is designed to be an adjunct to the existing business on the block. There will be parking for customers.

So is that parking structure for public parking too? Is that why it's so huge?

Yes, it replaces the parking that was previously there for the shops and provides parking for apartment tenants

This is how to do it. Building the garage in the middle on the block and wrap buildings around it.
