They will want incentives though, so may be a tough sell for KCMO city hall.

Speaking of city hall there. All of them should watch this video.

Even with subsidies, those projects are better for the city than northland sprawl.

I’m glad that everyone here watches the same YouTubers  it makes communicating these ideas easier

Maybe we'll get lucky with the election. I really like a handful of the candidates and think we may have a less hostile and uninformed pov from the council chambers soon.

Which candidates? Is there an urbanist voting guide somewhere out there for KCMO?

Lol well Michael Kelley for 5th and Justin Short for 4th are great options for starters. Justin Short specifically is extremely pro development.

More hostile candidates are in the race. Too early to tell

Could be an artifact but google earth seems to show the unoccupied building south of the autoshop has a collapsing roof.

Streetview shows the brick missing up top on a portion of the south side, which also seems indicative of a lack of support.

We need a ragger to take one for the team and book a north-facing room in the Hampton Inn.

The old building next to Calvert’s is being demolished today after an apparent fire last night (based on Twitter). The situation has resulted in Streetcar service being suspended since yesterday evening.

According to a project timeline submitted with its incentive application in April 2021, Cordish and Sky Real Estate had anticipated their project would start construction in the third or fourth quarter of 2022, with project completion between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the second quarter of 2026.

The parties have not filed a project plan since submitting the incentive application in 2021.
And here we are in Q4 of 2022. I'm guessing we don't hear about any movement on this until after the South Loop Cap funding is announced.

I can't think of a development that's ever happened when they say it will happen. I do know this project is next over any new residential project for Cordish. At 500+ apartments I'd have to assume this is going to be a very tall building even with 375sqft studio apartments.
