We’ve talked a lot about question 1 on the Nov 7th ballot (for good reason!) but is there any reason we shouldn’t vote yes on question 2? I don’t know much about the Northland Park Property situation.

For context, a "yes" vote supports removing 5.399 acres of undeveloped park land from the city's park system that was determined by the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners to be no longer appropriate or necessary for park use.

Not that I know. It's a legacy requirement the Parks Board has to put land sales to a vote that really should be done away with, instead have city council approve it.

NorthPoint is building the Ascent Apartments in the wooded area between Cherry & Holmes, land will likely be sold to them for necessary grading.

Believe the former Dallas CM is the front runner. But yes, hard to think he doesn't take that job if offered to him

Sounds like the lunatic left of KC might finally succeed in driving Platt away

This would be unfortunate as he's about the only person doing anything in City Hall these days. City Hall as a whole is extremely dysfunctional.. and without him I am sure it would only be worse.

DEI hire incoming. That's all this weirdo voter base cares about.

Additionally sounds like KC needs to extend his contract

I have a feeling he's not going anywhere. The City will likely match any offer he gets. The media leak is advantageous to Platt.

KMBC’s Kris Ketz posted on X that sources are telling him that Platt removed himself from the list of candidates for Austin City Manager. City Council will work on a contract extension. Great news. Would’ve been horrible to see him leave considering he’s probably the only person in City Hall pushing meaningful policies through the process.

Best news of the week. I shudder to think what Platt's replacement might have looked like in this environment, when it comes to progressive, pro-development mindset.

They’re sending this to a public vote? For what reason?
