For this specifically we are getting a dense highrise over a surface lot. All great things. That post seemed all negative. Just seems we only hear what's wrong with whatever. Just messing with you
You have known me a for a long time. I will always point out what's wrong with stuff lol.

I just want some east coast validation!

I have always been hard on KC, even when I lived there. East coast makes no difference! East coast far from prefect too. Trust me.

I think the building looks nice. I think it'll blend in very well. Not sure what the fuss is about.

No fuss. I just wasn't all that impressed with the rendering.

I'm definitely not complaining. I hope it's just the start of many more 10 story buildings in the river market.

Have you posted an honest to goodness positive thing about KC without some sort of negative out clause in 3 years? Honestly Grid, you are turning crank on us!
Boy you don't like critics much huh. I just don't think the rendering make this project look all that great. It doesn't mean it won't look great.
Agreed, the rendering made it look like a 1960’s “futuristic” public housing building. Utilitarian ugly, but maybe it was a rough rendering defined to give scale but lacked design elements. Hoping it looks better in person or better renderings.

Why do you hate Kansas City so much? :P

No seriously, you defined what I was thinking perfectly, I just didn't say it.

This is one of my personal favorite designs in the KC Metro rn. The color template looks like it will blend in well while still being modern. Plus I love the density and green elements, and the fact that the garage won’t be very noticeable.

The renderings lack detail which I think makes them look like public housing to some. I like the design but have heard that comment outside the rag too

One would think they would have released an updated rendering by now.

Stephens said there are several city-owned properties in the River Market that officials would like to see developed, noting proposals have been talked about for many years without moving forward.

“There are actually three and possibly four city-owned lots the city would like to see redeveloped in the River Market,” he said.

“This was considered a way to do a project that would kickstart that development and hopefully in a way that will deepen and grow.”
Which 3 or 4 other lots are they referring to?

It should be pointe out that this project grew in cost from $75 million to $95.6 million (+27.5%). PortKC's revised bond issuance is $97 million. Price per unit is now $318,666.67.

I see developments like this, really nice if not spectacular, and have the feeling that you could build 10 identical of these in and around downtown and they’d all be leased out almost immediately. And I just don’t understand why no one’s doing it.

- Lack of lots for sale
- Lack of acceptable rents and lack of incentives
- Investment Risk
- Lack of capital
