pretty sure the base is "open" like this so that they can get around having to vacate the rail ROW

If they build that I wouldn’t complain about what it looks like. That’s a hard spot to fill no matter what it is.

I remember railing about the trash dumpster where that land is when the hotel project was first announced. Hopefully, they will find a way to connect this new development to Lidia's and Jack's Stack and other buildings with a visible walking path under the Main St overpass. This would be a huge win for bringing traffic to this part of the Crossroads and building some synergy across Main.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 8:56 pm Freight House office tower will take part of the extended stay hotel parking lot

When does this project start? And I remember they mentioned getting the bike trail connected to this property, are they still working on that?

Worth pointing out the streetcar has a substation under the overpass, so it couldn't be fully opened up underneath, though the idea is solidbeautyfromashes wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 12:54 amI remember railing about the trash dumpster where that land is when the hotel project was first announced. Yes, but look at the considerable space still there for connection and would provide direct access to the bridge to Union Station. I never understood the dumpster there. Why would a hotel put a deterrent to great amenities like Freighthouse dining and Union Station. I hate that hotel.Flyingember wrote: Worth pointing out the streetcar has a substation under the overpass, so it couldn't be fully opened up underneath, though the idea is solid

These images are all on the web and available if you seek them out. I happened to stumble across them, but it should be an easy find for some.

This is an amazing project that will really fill in a major gap between downtown and crown center. Hope it gets built.

3D Development has a plan to unlock six acres of prime real estate at 21st and Main Street in Kansas City, MO. The master plan accesses the opportunity to activate 400 feet of streetscape along main street and the streetcar route, creating a landmark project with high visibility that is centrally located and connected. The Podium Office and Hotel becomes the centerpiece of mixed use developments to the east and west.
The entire development will share one foundational podium and a transparent ground floor, giving the building a sense of weightlessness and connection from the Main Street streetscape and pocket parks located behind.
