Construction on "urban playground " has started with the removal of the existing sidewalk.

Incentives approved by the PIEA today for Phase 1. 75% at 10 years and 37.5% at 5 years.

Per the plan submitted to PIEA in January of this year, it looks like ground breaking won't be until Spring 2022 with construction running through Fall of 2024 (I'm not sure if that end date is just the first phase, or if it includes everything).

They'd be a good partner for this. Continue their investments in the City of KC and Region with this one at Freighthouse.

This is a positive outcome considering that these parcels are near a railyard and a viaduct over that railyard.

It still amazes me that parcels like these are getting developed before ones in the East Village, or the North Loop parking lots.

If EV wasn't controlled by a single entity, things might be different.

Any yet Cordish gained control of multiple blocks and developed them. I agree with you though that the EV would probably have seen movement had the blocks been divided up between multiple developers.

Still hoping the building along Main ends up looking like this. The massing and interaction is perfect.

Having some difficulty believing they can pull this project off. They’ve been working on the star building for nearly four years without much to show, and that was an existing building

A big difference is the podium is mostly residential, right? The Star was all office and retail.

Podium is 250,000sqft office and 150 hotel rooms. Freight House Village is the apartments and Superior renovation.

Is all of that considered ‘phase 1’ that just received incentives?

Phase 1 incentives approved for:

200 unit apartment building, 12 townhomes, 300+ space garage, 75,000 sqft Superior Office building renovation

The parking garage will serve the apartments and offices and replaced the existing ~50 Western Auto condo spaces. Less than 1 space per housing unit

Is the garage for joint use of residential/hotel/office in the lower floors of the hotel/office?

"The Podium" is the combined office and hotel tower. That is a future phase with its own garage. As far as we know, that garage will just be for office and hotel users.

The shared garage in the first phase will be below the apartment building on Walnut it looks like.
